Apparently manufacturers aren't doing enough to bring in systems to warn drivers that idiots have left a child in the car.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-49600499

I am absolutely gob smacked by this, who in their right minds forgets to leave their phone in the car never mind a child or dog.

Who in their right mind then goes on to make it a car manufacturers issue.

How about prosecuting those that leave children to die in hot cars for criminal negligence manslaughter.

That would fix the problemu

Someone who can't cope with the fact it was their own fault.

There are scrotes going around at night trying all the car doors around the town I live in. The local Facefart crime page is flooded with cars "broken into" every morning, where valuables have been left in display including £120 in cash and a pile or birthday presents.

Funny, because there's never any damage to the car and they're clearly not cloning wireless keys because the cars never get nicked. You'd be amazed how many morons don't lock their cars and leave valuables on display. Most are in their 20's or younger.

As a society, we're definitely getting thicker by the generation.

Whatever security you have, there's always the universal fob:

Thing is, if you smashed a window to free the kid you'd probably end up with a felony conviction in the States.

It's not just the parents that need a slap it's the whole Sue, Grabbit & Runn attitude over there.

How do you use a brick to get into a car without causing damage, which is how I described it in the quote you highlighted?

Yeah, I should have explained that better Crying or Very sad

Let me try to make amends by saying "regardless of the security you think you have there's always a half brick" but yes, odd that there's so little damage. The miscreants that do things like extending the signal distance of keyless car fobs don't piss about nicking loose change they nick the whole car Sad

That last bit about celebrating ignorance is spot on. Written back in 1995... and it took another decade till "Idiocracy" came out Smile

At least 25 states have protections for those who free animals from cars and for those that protect animals but not kids a good lawyer could probably successfully make the case that we are all animals....

Interesting to note that some states set up protection for animals before they did for kids!

I would suspect they didn't think people would be stupid enough to leave their kids in hot cars. It's one thing saying the dog will be ok for ten minutes, but your own kid?

There would be defences under other laws that they could use. Freeing someone from impending death and/or torture etc.
