Hi all

Does anyone know of any textile trousers or light weight cargo type trousers without the annoying sweaty mesh lining? Basically I'm looking for something like kevlar jeans where it just has the kevlar lining and pockets for knee and hip armour but without that mesh

Cheers
Dominic

Hi

I have had many different pairs of jeans/ trousers and paid a small fortune for them .

Ironically the cheapest have been the most comfortable and hard wearing . I purchased a three pairs of Konime jeans ( Japanese design apparently )

I got them imported though Aliepress . so the QC and authenticity could be questionable but , for me they have been absolutely spot on fit and comfort .

I purchased Something like these here :
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32982329200.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.6a331136BK0Abp&algo_pvid=a53cb54d-df9a-41ba-8788-301afc8eaf35&algo_expid=a53cb54d-df9a-41ba-8788-301afc8eaf35-18&btsid=809e2dd8-9e53-4513-8855-600d45fa4202&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_6,searchweb201603_60

cheers, do these have that mesh lining? I don't really understand the point in it other than making you sweaty and itchy, the best MC trousers I have owned are Force Riders which they unfortunately don't make anymore but I still wear one as my daily and then change at work.

I liked the look of these:

https://www.xlmoto.co.uk/course-aramid-cargo-trousers-black

But unfortunately they have the silly mesh inside too, might head over to J&S or helmet city and see what they have.

The textile outer material is perfect, if they made a trouser which just had this material and like kevlar jeans you had little pockets if you wanted to put armour in

The pairs I got did not have , I got the Jean variant though.

For the price you cant really go wrong . I purchased four pairs ( to find size ) and sold the ones that did not fit . Sizing were actually accurate though

I have the Oxford SP-J3 Teflon jeans which have no lining, not quite what I would call light weight though.

I've got loads of textile troos. No problem with perspiration.

Unless its a hot day. Rare.

My fav troos have a mesh over the vents in the legs that have zippers to open for better ventilation. (Not Assless Chaps ya bastirts.)

Cheaper brands are not so good at breathing but Gortex or Shelltex works well.

I bought some Redroute cargo pants which work pretty well and keep me cool tbh, I don't know what it is about that mesh but as soon as I have it on my skin I start sweating badly, even with baselayers, i can easily wear kevlar jeans year round tbh no issue, used to love force riders but they no longer make them

If your cargo pants are not waterproof you can do it using wash-in stuff or a spray.

Look for Nikwax shite. It's a wee bit pricey but the waterproofing works well.

https://www.nikwax.com/en-gb/productselector/waterproofing.php

The theory is: The 'waterproofer' doesn't prevent air and water 'vapour' passing through but will cause bigger droplets to 'bead*' on the surface and that encourages then droplets to collect and run off the garment.

Mesh fabric and sweat?

Perhaps it's your skin's sensitivity to the man-made fabric. Maybe a sort of immune reaction.

I personally detest any 'nylon' type fabric against my skin. Uncomfortable as Phuque.

It's cool enough in Glezga to need or be able to wear my under-doons under my troos now.
I wear merino wool. I invested (no pun) heavily in a make called Ice Breaker.
Very expensiver but well worth the dosh. They become invisible under your gear. I bought two sets for work too.
I wear the merino Ups and downs under insulated coveralls and I'm as toastie AF. It helps maintain mobility so you are not fighting layers of padded clothing.
The good thing is they've survived many washes in the machine and still in great shape. Most of my merino disintegrates after the winter.
My ice breaker stuff is three winters old now.
Shite.... Is this post like spammery now? Shocked Embarassed

Rokker jeans would fit the bill but they cost an arm and a leg.

Also - have a read of https://www.motolegends.com/why-you-should-not-buy-a-pair-of-kevlar-motorcycle-jeans which might be useful

A bit of a savage way of doing things: couldn’t you buy the trousers you like and cut the mesh lining out?

Pro Tip: If you discover your arms down the legs of your trousers then you are doing it incorrectly. 🤣

no need for waterproofing, it never rains that bad in London Smile plus I change out of them at work and hang up so don't mind getting a bit wet.

With the mesh style ones I thought of cutting the mesh out but in all the ones I looked at it is the mesh which holds the armour in place.

Single layer jeans look quite good never heard of them or seen them in the usual places J&S, Helmet city etc - all are the lined kevlar type
