Hey,

Rookie mistake, but bought a YBR125 custom assuming all after-market parts would be easy to find, but seems I was wrong.

My exhaust is looking like it's going to need replacing sooner than I hoped (not fixable). It was a cheap bike and I fancied a bit of project, but I wasn’t expecting to need to spend 500 + quid on a new one. That’s what I paid for the bike!

Anyone had any luck finding an aftermarket exhaust that fits?

If not does anyone have details of the procedure to mod a standard YBR one? Is it just a case of welding some new brackets? Probs not going to attempt welding myself but be good to know how much a welder would charge.

 Thank you!

Includes possible pointer to cheap alternative.

Says what part you need to make it fit.

Thanks! Still be interested in hearing if anyone has done the mod.

After looking at that listing it's make me wonder if you can attach any standard ybr exhaust if you swap to a standard ybr footrest hangar. Anyone know if that's the only difference in attachment?

Thanks

No idea. Ask the vendor? Some are chatty.

As they use the same engine the down pipe part will probably be ok.
Pics show the stock YBR silencer is swept up more than the Custom which has a flatter path.
EFIs have an exhaust gas sensor near the dowpipe silencer join
which may or may not cause problems if modding

I expect its all quite doable though if you have a practical disposition and kit

You can just fabricobble a hanger 'extension' from steel, literally just a bar piece with a hole either end.

I take it this would involve welding? It's just that point where it hangs off the foot rest hangar right?

Thanks

You may not need a welder to 'fabricobble' Very Happy
a stock YBR exhaust to a YBR custom.
I'd fit the downpipe first but support it!
( not good to let the two downpipe bolts take all the weight)
on a box/lumps of wood/bricks etc to get an idea of what sort of bracket you need and where to drill holes, make cuts etc.

Ah I'm picturing it now, basically the standard ybr pipe sits a bit lower at the footpeg attachment right? Little metal bar with a couple of bolt holes?

Also what's the deal with the sensor? Do I need an exhaust with this part or can I just not attach it without causing any issues?

Sorry for all the questions btw; this advice this is really helpful!

AFAIK they both have EFI and exhaust sensors attached to the silencer, the stock YBR does anyway.
As it's forward of the support metalwork , close to the footpeg,
it shouldn't be a problem (I think/hope)

So managed to get a decent workaround for this problem, thought I'd share in case it helps someone.

Dominator do a downpipe for the YBR which will fit the custom. They are the only company I could find who sell one with the breather pipe (or whatever it is). You'll need to email them and ask them to send the pipe only and give them the inside diameter of your muffler.

I bought a universal muffler from wemoto. It requires you to drill a hole in the bracket to attach it, but that solved the different attachment problem.

Total cost was £135 delivered.

Also looks decent / and doesn't ruin the look of the bike.

Muffler is a bit loud so may look to add a baffle to the end of it though.

Smile
