Well, could be baffles or cat, or both. Same result, and having watched the vid I'd say it's still most likely.
Inside the cat or the end can, there's a chamber designed to allow gasses through a substance to do 'something' to the exhaust. In the cat, it's a metal designed to break down the nasties to allow birds to breathe the fumes in, in the end can it's a fibre substance designed to reduce noise.
Both should provide a little back-pressure to the motor, but not much. When you put an aftermarket can on, typically you remove back pressure, increase the flow rate, motor can get more gasses out, so you can put more in, bike goes faster (and gets hotter) etc, etc.
If any of these filtering devices break down, they have very few places to go, and being solid and not gasses - will accumulate in a place.
If I were you, I'd start slipping off the end can and looking in there. If you shake it and it rattles, that's your issue. Sometimes you can open them up, more likely though you can just tip the crud out the (incoming) end, refit and you're sorted. For a while.
Google and Youtube will likely help you, look for 'repacking baffles' or 'cat breaking down'. |
