I miss being in a band... Crying or Very sad

I know what you mean, although I never quite got one off the ground (I don't miss certain things about trying to put one together!). I'd be happy enough if there was a half decent blues jam night around here.

I find it difficult to get motivated to play guitar at home - even with backing tracks and stuff, it just ain't the same.

I don't do FB but maybe there is a group.
Place an ad in a freebie paper.
Go to an open mic night and see if somebody fancies a jam.
Local music shop.

Couple of years back I replied to an ad asking for a drummer with the intention of jamming and maybe doing a few shows.

I'm still embarrassed now.
Met them (Turtles3 they called themselves..FFS!) anyway they thought I was the Dad dropping his son off. Smile
I was using an electronic kit...eyebrows raised.
Needless to say I didn't pass the audition.

Get out there Nick and give it a go. Thumbs Up

Can't find anything around here Pat (would have to be within walking distance now Rolling Eyes ). I guess Carlisle's just a bit too small.

As to placing ads, that led to one of the things I hated about trying to put a band together. All kinds of looneys phoning up at all times of day and night, most off their heads on something-or-other. Then the bass player we had confessed to being a smack addict. He'd been fine up to then, but as soon as he'd got it off his chest, he became unreliable. I gave up.

I was living in Harlow at the time - there was a surprisingly vibrant music scene there for a small town. And I regularly attended a cracking little blues jam in Bishops Stortford. The guy that took over the running of it started getting some really good blues outfits in to play on intervening nights - booked off the visiting American scene quite often. I take pride in having kicked that idea off by persuading him to let my mate Will Killeen come and play a few tunes one night, which went down well (Will always went down well). One of the bigger American blues names apparently went home and did a review of the place saying it was the most authentic little blues club he'd been in outside the States.

And a mate and me had a little acoustic thing going for quite some time, and through contacts in MAG and the local bike club we played a few pubs, parties and stuff, culminating in playing in the acoustic marquee of the last Magna Carta rally at Upminster/Hornchurch. So it's not a confidence thing that stops me.

And later I used to go to jams in Leytonstone - walked with the guitar from Woodford, surprised I never got mugged Laughing

Aye I can see it being a tad tricky for you.

I use a program called Cubase on the PC and it's got a feature called VST connect for online collabs. Not tried it but programs like that are improving. Another one for the ipad/iPhone also gaining popularity (name escapes me).

Wish I could say which one would suit but not checked them out.
May be an option.

A pair of funny cunts too.

In an interview they almost had the interviewer when they told him that they weren't related to each other.
Very Happy

Mrs T loves them so I feel like I know them <aside> she's just had her car broken into and they nicked her CDs so I'll be buying her Proclaimers again.

They must think I'm some kinda superfan.

I did draw the line at going to watch them tho...learned my lesson after Runrig. Very Happy

He had more talent in his little finger than most.
Died recently so his little finger is probably a bit smelly now.

They'd have a fancy name for it now.
I call it dancing music...maybe housework music at a push.

Housework Music?

I don't let anything disturb me when doing housework.
My Dyson is a finely tuned instrument not unlike a priceless Stradivarius Lester Polsfuss.

Bobby Bland, Stormy Monday Blues, my favourite version, with sublime guitar work from Wayne Bennett. Definitive.
