CEX. The shop, I bought some Beats Solo 2 headphones for a present. I bought them last month in preparation for a birthday that happened yesterday. They were not new but an 'A' grade, so as close to new as you can get without actually being new.

Was told they were wireless or wired with detachable cable. Turned out they were wired only so no wireless function. I never tested these, home and wrapped the box up. Yesterday birthday girl says not wireless. Took them back to CEX and without quibble they honoured the original sale price, never said "Tough shit, we give you buy in price only for cash/exchange". £50 back as a voucher as that is what bought them a £50 voucher. I gave birthday girl the voucher so she can get what she wants.

CEX delivered, quite pleased.

Not sure if my gears should be ground or oiled.
Mostly they are oiled.

I fell asleep doing that "leaning slowly towards the person in the next seat" this evening, and woke up having to apologise to a very nice man who was travelling to Ipswich.

I really should have engaged him in further conversation. I think he wanted to continue chatting.

But I was soooooooooo embarrassed. Laughing Laughing

Thank goodness I didn't actually end up with my head on his shoulder, although I wouldn't have minded at all, he was quite cute. For a mature gent. Alright he was my age (ish).

But the bloody District Line, of all places, FFS. On ordinary commutes I never see the same people EVER again. Let alone some cute bloke I might have wanted to chat up.

*cues Fleetwood Mac riff again*

He was ever so nice looking ... in a non-threatening sort of way ... Thinking

*cues Fleetwood Mac riff much louder to remind self shoulda tried harder*

If you prefer a more rough-hewn and less refined older gentleman you should meet my father-in-law. Snarly versus Shadow would be quite amusing Smile

My pear tree this year is just ott, branches were almost touching the ground laden with fruit. Bumper crop of green gauge plums earlier.

Poor apple tree not so happy.

Turn the sound off and watch as two elderly men stand facing each other and twang between their legs. It's funny.
(How many more will milk this song?)

With regards a bountiful harvest. Farming friends up here are seeing massive harvests of grain. I've seen nothing like it but as they say - the fact there is more doesn't mean more money. Those huge quantities bring the prices down and they get almost nothing (and still get to drive away in brand new Mercs).
As a keen gardener the huge fruit harvest is of concern. It's basically a sign of a very bad winter about to hit us.

Calamari in it's own ink.
Looks and sounds repulsive but if you love seafood I highly recommended it.

Finally got access to my new boss's Outlook calendar, and discovered not only is he in Madrid for most of next week, he's also away in Crete and Chile* between now and when I go home to NZ in November.

I had forgotten the pleasures of working for a Professor Cool

This counterweights the possibility that I might have to sometimes type the word "mucus" again. I thought I had got away from that. But here I am, back in respiratory medicine.

*possibly also somewhere else, those are just the ones that stick in my mind.

Today, I finally managed to remove the stator cover of my XBR, the exciter coil is dead. A bittersweet victory, however a victory nonetheless. Thumbs Up

I'm staying at a beautiful riverside caravan park in Hemingford Abbots for the weekend.
So many things are oiling my gears but this little fella just outside our window today has taken 1st prize. Crap pic as I had to be quick.

Whenever I'm fishing and spot a Kingfisher, I always stop what I'm doing and watch them, they're most spectacular birds.

I had a spell in hospital last year, luckily I was able spend a lot of time sitting by the river that runs behind it, watching the wildlife doing it's thing.

Amongst other things, I saw moorhens building nests and laying eggs, several male mallards vying for the attentions of a single female and rats displaying their swimming skills, but nothing was so impressive as the kingfisher that passed in the couple of feet between the foot bridge and the water, seemingly at a thousand miles an hour, in a flash of electric blue.

We've got noisy moorhens doing their thing and the ubiquitous ducks.
Theres also a resident heron with its nest just up the river and this beautiful thing.

Yesterdays ride.

Possibly the last sunny warm day of the year. Bautiful roads, sticky tyres and the company of a good mate.

Back home in time for a spot of fishing and a cider by the river.

All topped off with a fish supper.

Yesterday was a very, very good day.

Can't get mine out without help at the moment.... I was forced to look out of the window at that nice day yesterday. Crying or Very sad
OK, so I walked the dog and had lunch at the pub but I'd rather have been on my bike. It's been about two months since
it went out and it needs its first MOT on 8th October. I expect to have scaffolding still up then so it's likely to not
come out again until well into next year now. Shame. Still I have plenty to do over the next few months and part
of that is getting its new garage up together. I did manage to at least ride the scoot home from the mechanic last Monday
with a fresh clean sheet MOT.

Also with the fish supper, we paid with a £10 note and she gave us change for a £20.

£10 wouldn't buy two fish suppers at my local chippy. That would be £16 there.
