Picked up the RC8 today, a mate rode pillion on the CBR and then rode the CBR6 back home again. I was surprised how well it behaved with a passenger on the back.

Doubt I'll ever get both bikes out on the road together again, so here you go.

I'd probably have sex with one of those.

I bought one of those 600s a few weeks ago - after the zx9r its like riding a bmx, It needs a good caning to get going, but on the tight stuff it's as nimble as fuck. Bike was minty fresh w/ only 8k on it and I paid 2.3k.

Nice! Thumbs Up

Mechanically mine is A1, only on 55k miles, but cosmetically nowhere near yours, that really looks properly looked after.

They're a total hoot, light and forgiving. Revvy with a smooth gearbox makes it easy to stay with bigger engine stuff.

Mine's even lighter with LiFePO4 battery and aftermarket exhaust, estimating 5KG less.

Afaict, it wasn't so much looked after as just never used. It's had a bit of a rude awakening since I got it though. I'm a bit big for it, but fuck it - it's comfy enough for a 100 or so miles of b-road shenanigans. @ 12k it'll get a proper service cos the brake fluid, fork oil and coolant will all be 20 year old I reckon. Also needs a hugger, fender extenda thing, and some Hel lines.

Its stock can will, yeah, be a lot heavier than an after mkt one - but I've gone off noise lately. That said, "lighter-ness" is always ace. If I could get a lighter, quieter can that didn't expand the flat mid range I'd be into that.

RE the lifep04, mate of mine bunged a lithium job on his buell a year or two ago - didn't get on with it. Can't remember what his beef was, but he never went back to 'em. : - |

But yeah these things steer like crazy - only gripe so far is that flat spot at 5k which can last into 6k and beyond, seemingly. You do have to plan for that because it quite simply stops pulling, where something like an old zx9r is steaming forwards like a good 'un. Still, when the 600 has finally woken up properly at 7k it can come as a bit of a shock cos it feels like its gone mental - probably its just an illusion caused by the preceding flat phase.
