Head stock bearings - best options?

I'm going to change the head stock bearings on my 91 FZ750 and wondered if anyone has any thoughts on the best make to buy. Pyramid Products @ £28 seem good value or "Japanese made" @£40

I have fitted original ball bearings and tapered after market types to various bikes over the years.

The only difference I have found is that the OE usually have a torque setting, initial and final which I use a carved up socket to apply, this has always been just right, not too tight or too loose. The aftermarket I do by feel, sometimes had to readjust after a test ride.

They all lasted the life of the bike, I have never fitted a set to a bike more than once, I believe this is because I put grease on the things and the factories don't seem to bother.

On most Yamahas I have had to use an expanding type tool to remove the shells from the head stock as there was no edge to place a drift against to drive them out.

Last time I did headset (and wheel) bearings I got the bearing dimensions then went to a bearing supplier for them. They offer them in sealed, semi-sealed, unsealed etc so you get what you want.

Start somewhere like cmsnl, look at the part numbers and track down dimensions, then look at somewhere like Simply Bearings.

Only ever needed to replace one set of head bearings. Just made sure they were tapered, didn't think much about the rest. Latest longer than the rest of the bike 🤐

FZ750 were shipped with tapered AFAIK. Ebay shows a wide range including KOYO brand for 23 quid. Pretty sure they would do you fine (or the Pyramid parts)

Koyo are run of the mill, not 'highest quality'. They will suffice though.

I've used bearings from pyramid loads of times, they're fine.
