I thought that might have been a typo but apparently it's one of these:

Thank God such a thing exists or your Google search might have taken you to a rather dark place.

First one: two other girls, both on mopeds (one switched down to 50cc) and me On a geared YZF. I'm falling behind from the offset cos gears.

One week later, I'm off again to a different provider [...] One deliveroo driver on a scooter and one bloke who's ridden bikes overseas and just wants to be legal.

When I called up to organize my CBT, the first thing the instructor checked was my experience (zero) and he recommended a solo session because of that. I ended up wanting it sooner, and he said there was another absolute beginner that week learning on a geared bike so I could pair up with him.

If you are not particularly confident or a "natural", being teamed up with people who have an easier learning process (automatics) or a lot more experience seems like a recipe for frustration and failure. Organize a CBT with someone interested in training you rather than lightening your bank balance (ruling you out at 10:30 - wtf). My instructor is up north so no use, but just as an example when I was getting increasingly frustrated at myself at one point for being slower to learn, he must have picked up on it as he casually suggested a tea break - giving me time to calm down and get my shit together. Minor stuff like that really helps.

I passed!
Went back to latest test centre due to logistics and gelled with my instructor a lot better. Ended up managing my slow control in second gear to get over my fear of first haha (if it's stupid and it works etc etc).
In the guys words "you look a bit stupid but you're not dangerous" as he handed me my certificate.
Now working on finance for my first 125, thank you all so much for the advice x
