The list of exempt vehicles includes those over 40 years old and fire engines, amongst a number of other vehicle classsifi ations.

It seemed quite active to me, especially when it was spraying fluid all over the fucking place....

So long as it is a fitted out fully functional fire engine it meets the exemption.

No that'll be the 'over 40 years old' exemption.

12.2 Fire Engine and Fire ServiceFire Engines are

:a)constructed or adapted for use for the purpose of fire fighting, salvage or both

b)used solely for the purpose in relation to which a fire and rescue authority under the Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004 or the Fire and Rescue (NI) Order 2006 has functions (whoever uses it for those purposes)

What about fire engines exempted before 2004?

Eh? I'm not sure I understand the question,

If you mean because the fire and rescue services act was in 2004 then that act does not exempt the vehicles it just sets out what constitutes the purpose they need to be solely used for to be exempt. the age of the vehicle (if less than 40 years) being irrelevant

Moving on (riding a solar powered, carbon neutral vehicle, like wot we 'ave seen a lot of during the recent protests.)

I'm all for protests about small topics that may be missed by the great and the good* in Parliament. But if your main point is:

"We're destroying the planet! Something needs to be done!"

Then using tactics that, in essence, are destructive give out a message that either you're not serious or don't know what you're talking about.

If they are serious then as far as I'm concerned they're barely one step away from advocating revolution.

Is the penalty for treason still death? I do hope so Twisted Evil

I'm afraid the death penalty was abolished, even for regicide.

If the Met Police are having trouble managing the protests, they should recruit some riot police from Hong Kong.

There was a little fire truck
The firemen named it Jack
And Jack put out lots of fires
And saved the occasional cat

But one day Jack got old
And the the firemen sold him off
They dragged him to an auction
He was bought by a terrible toff

And Jack thought it was lovely
When they drove him up to town
But Jack became bewildered
As they hosed the building down

"We're at the wrong location"
"These chaps have been misled"
"That building's not on fire..."
"Hang on, why's the water red?"

Jack became quite angry
When he learnt the awful truth
Of his photo in the papers
With c*nts upon his roof

Spare a thought for dear old Jack
And how he's been enslaved
By climate change protesters
Who want the planet saved

"OUTRAGEOUS! HYPOCRITES!", says man who hates Muslims and non-integrating immigrants, who wants to non-integrate in Thailand, a foreign culture with more Muslims than he currently lives among.

Irrelevant and off topic.

As if it's off topic, the guy jumps at every perceived chance he gets to make another one of his blind, hypocritical, hateful opinions so I called him out on it.

Maybe I should have been more succinct: "He committed a Mensch Fallacy"

Quote:
Here Louise argues that one can not critique capitalism if one has ever bought coffee or relied on "the system" in any way whatsoever. That is, one is a hypocrite if one takes even the tiniest thing from the capitalist system and then dares critique said system.

This is a classic example of a fallacy in logical reasoning known as Tu Quoque -- a red herring fallacy where one attempts to deflect critique by trying to turn it back upon the accuser.

Given the choice between a planet killing large multi-national and a small, independent fast food provider? Seems an easy choice!

Still, maybe these tree-huggers are simple racists as the latter is more likely to be owned and run by immigrants Wink

All the franchise food outlets round out way are run by immigrants. Try getting a McDonalds when the person on the radio mike has a foreign accent as thick as Diane Abbott. It's pot luck what you get.

I'm the last person that could be accused of being a tree hugger but these people have the right to a peaceful protest. How far that right extends is open to discussion but I'm not sure this heavy handed policing is the way to go.

There's a difference between protesting and causing unreasonable disruption, costs, and not a little damage - especially over many days.
