Love their skills but won't miss Baker when he passes. Nasty sod in that documentary I watched.

I got the impression he was a 1st class C word too, I think that was in some sort of documentary or other? I remember watching the 'Classic Albums' episode, 'Disraeli Gears' so maybe it was that?

Maybe it was "Beware of Mr Baker". The one where loads of his contemporaries were interviewed and many confirmed his "difficultness" and when he discovered these interviews were going to be featured in the film, attacked the director with his walking stick.....on camera...... causing real injuries Crying or Very sad

You could be right. Still a nasty bugger who lashed out.

Bet you've worked with those types, I know I have and you either end up treading on eggshells or you confront them one.
Let's call him Dave. (Actually it was Dave) Dave was a superb stone mason but blimey he made everyone feel uncomfortable. Throwing stuff about. The silent treatment etc and when I worked with him we hit it off.

Even went around for a jam and have one of his superb drawings on my wall he did for me but I did scruff him when a 2" chisel flew past my head.
Apparently he had changed from mild artistic Dave into moody Dave with bouts of physical outbursts after his wife died

I know I was one of the few people who was sad when he died of pancreatic cancer.

So, guess I will be a bit sorry when Ginger passes. He's entertained my ears for many years.

Fela Kuti says some lovely things about him on this LP and Ginger likewise in the sleeve notes.

Well, Ginger Baker died aged 80. Whatever you think of him as a person, he was a hugely influential and innovative drummer that left his mark on modern music and for that he'll be missed.

Average White Band sax player Malcolm "Molly" Duncan died, aged 74.

Family left behind to 'pick up the pieces'.

Its never too soon at the Celeb Mortuary FB group that I occasionally hang out on.
In fact, its a race to get there before everyone else.
They have some very strict rules about posting notification of the same death twice Laughing

I couldn't remember that programme in depth, but they're rerunning it right now - turned it on late, I'm five minutes in and.................the guy was a great drummer, I mean really great, maybe one of the best, but also a grade A, top drawer, solid gold KVNT!

The bloke made Buddy Rich look like a shrinking violet and, whilst I understand the concept of ego driving people to the absolute heights, a little humility also goes a long way.

Beyond his talent, I can't see anything to like about the man.

OTOH, there's a doc about David Rodigan on next, so I'll stay up for that because he's a proper bloke and I will be genuinely sad when he eventually pops off.

Seems very young to die of NC at 59.

Also noticed Colin Mawby (organist died). This is only noticeable to me because he retired and then bought it virtually straight after, which must go down well with the government Thumbs Up .
