New Jacket time

I need a new Jacket, I was thinking of getting another Alpinestars Andes which is perfect but I'm considering A KLIM GTX textile jacket.

I took a gamble on Kriega being the holy grail of portable soft luggage and it worked (in terms of being waterproof), but I'd never transition into Goretex clothing at the prices they currently demand.

If there's anything I've learnt from the RST Pro Series Adventure II and RST Paragaon 5 Jacket its that a jacket with a waterproof layer built in is far better as it respells the water and bounces off resulting in a lighter jacket (RST Adventure absorbs the outer layer and deflects the inside) thus enabling you to focus more on the road.

Long and short: decent textile jacket that's waterproof gets my vote. I'd have to be doing serious mileage in very rubbish weather to honestly tell myself that my £400 was best spent on one item alone.

Only Goretex items I'd try are gloves and boots as they seem more affordable than their jacket/trouser counterparts, plus the goretex range of jackets/trousers aren't developed enough -- IMO -- across any brand beside Rukka to get a decent matching suit or to swap between jackets etc as easy as one can do with regular waterproof branded gear.
