Dunno how they do it but a few things: Treat it like a tray of eggs. No don't eat it but just be gentle how it's moved around. They're basically filled with circuit boards and rough handling could damage it. Keep it in a hard case or cover with a dust sheet when not in use - keeps it dry and dust free.
I bought one 4 years ago at JTF in the UK for £50. A cheapo radio-sized unit and it soon became a favourite. I've looked after it and it's still going strong. I can weld thin metal at 15 amps..
If yours arrives in working order you'll love it. ____________________ CCM 404 DS |

I've spotted Machine Mart selling more and more lifetime gear. I recently bought some larger-sized spanners and the quality is very good. ____________________ CCM 404 DS |

10W50 engine oil for my big single. It's the first time I'm trying such oil blend.
I normally used to go for 20W50 for air cooled 4 strokes, but I also do remember it was harder to cold start the engine with 20Wxx, so will see about this blend. 10W40 gets too thin in the hot summer weather we get here.
... oh, and a new stator (from Britain!), oil filter, front forks repair kit (seals and all that), steering bearings, gasket paper for the stator cover ... the Christmas came early this year. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

I probably need to have an academic discussion about oil because its all Greek to me.
The only thing I seem to comprehend is that I have an old engine.
And that in the summer it needs different "weight" oil than in the winter. |
I was first introduced to 20W50 oil when I had my first motorcycle (GPz550, air cooled 4 cylinder, four stroke). Using thicker oil, I reduced the oil consumption significantly and also quieten the engine when hot. Worth mentioning, we do get 35+°C summers here (much higher in direct sunlight, obviously). With ''standard'' 10W40 the oil consumption was significantly higher and the engine noiser the hotter it got. I had the bike maybe 10 years ago and even back then it was already 22+ years old, after who knows how many owners and miles.
For me 20W50 made starting the engine in spring (cold) rather difficult, plus it can't be good for the oil pump to move melasis around (well, the service manual said it was alright to use such oil). That's why I'm gonna try 10W50 in the XBR engine.
What do those numbers mean? The viscosity at a given temperature...

Some new Karma soap from Lush and some new flavoured one obviously out for the Halloween crowd, in the shape of a ghost but smells wonderfully lemony/citrussy (because bergamot)
And also just enough fancy noms* from Marks & Spencer to see me through until , ermmm ... some distant moment during the weekend when I run out of milk and loopaper again.
*Fucking "Palmiers" !!
Amazing things: fancy pastry with sugar on.

I see what you did and I like it.
I do need to re-arrange but that's more a cable management thing.
The bread n butter instruments and other outboard gear are wired to a patchbay so workflow isn't an issue. Space...well I have another room where amps n cabs live. Wheel 'em in wheel 'em out.
Next on my list is a 335 and a ribbon mic oh and my old mixer is still playing up..then eventually a bigger audio interface and another patchbay. A clean Fender amp like the Princeton would be useful. Always on the lookout for interesting guitar pedals.
A poly synth (the Minilogue caught my eye).
Few more bits for the modular.
Yep should be dead by the time I get that lot.
Or
I could sell everything and do it all on a MacBook with controller keyboard and be forever updating software and lamenting the loss of old programs that are no longer supported.
The Space Echo has been yearned for ever since my old band had the 301 in the 80s.

Do you ever yearn to just get out there and play? I.e., miss the band thing? I know you do the annual jam, but doesn't that just leave you wanting more?
Why not take your compositions to the masses half a dozen pissed-up folks down the pub? (Is there much of a music scene round where you live?)
