I have an LT50 quad copy for my son.

It was a cheap none runner, the wires were connected wrong and after sorting them I got it running.

However

The bike won’t start on the first pull, it’s more like 5-10 pulls to get it started, any choke on and the bike won’t start, put the choke on whilst the bike is running and it will die.

When it’s started and riding along it’ll bog down and cut out within seconds, it may run for a little while but then just bogs down again.

I have bought a new carb which has made no difference and adjustments to air screw makes no change, it almost has to be completely shut to make it set off without bogging and cutting out.

Any ideas?? The wiring is fine now, I check the over flow when it cuts out to make sure fuel in bowl and there always is, Im pretty stumped!!

It doesn’t have any as such, it’s a cheap Chinese 2stroke engine and there is only an inlet pipe, no reed valves.

have you considered that the choke operated in the opposite direction.. ie. what you think is on... is actually off and vice versa ... ?

Spark yes as far as I know as it will start again straight away then do the same thing again, not sure about wet plug though!

Choke definitely right way as I had the last carb in bits to check

As said, give it some throttle during dying and see if the plug is wet or dry.
Also the exhaust may be part blocked!

Has it any unwanted air going in somewhere and does the engine have any leaks or weeping?

Ordered yet another new carb today and everything seems fine now, possibly two dodgy carbs but seems to run much better now!

Hopefully problem solved.

I`ve had a faulty chinky carb for a lawnmower, the fuel level was to low preventing high revs.

I did think that there was an issue with the float, meaning it would empty the bowl and make the engine bog, but everytime I checked the bowl it was leaking fuel!!

Anyway fingers crossed
