Hi all. New scooterist here. Today I had a full service and MOT done on the Vespa GTS 125 I bought a couple of months ago. It hadn't been serviced since 5k km and has just hit 18k km so thought I'd take it in to get it given the works. The variator, belt and rollers were replaced and valve clearances (whatever that is) done as part of the service.
It could be my imagination but riding it home this evening it didn't feel as responsive or quick as it did before the service. Is this possible, and if so why would this be?
As always, any sensible input gratefully received.

I wouldn't worry just yet - but ofc, monitor the situation - all those new parts might need to bed-in a bit.

That being said did they replace like for like? Changing variator springs to a different strength and roller weights to a different, err... weight can alter the responsiveness.

Thanks for your response. Not a clue about like for like replacements. They guy said he had a difficult job to replace the parts as the variator was seized and he had to heat it up to get the old one off. He showed me the old rollers which had flat spots on them. I'm not mechanically minded at all at had to take what he was telling me at face value (including the photos he showed me but it meant little to me).

I'll see what happens over the next couple of weeks but I guess any bedding in will be a gradual process and I may not notice any difference. It certainly wasn't awful, but 80% sure it felt like acceleration was slower.

I should add that when releasing the throttle, the bike doesn't slow down as quickly without breaking as it did before. Not sure if this makes any difference.
