Hi

Justa bought a GSX1250FA and it has panniers on it, thing is the offside pannier is touching the (aftermarket) exhaust. Is this gonna melt?

I've never had panniers before so all a bit new to me. I would have thought this would melt 'em but maybe they're made of something special in that area, who knows?

They are Suzuki original.

Anyone have any experience with this?
Cheers

Yes, that will melt. You either need to raise the pannier or lower the exhaust. I'd suggest a longer exhaust hanger would be the best bet.

A piece of silicone trivet or carbon fibre sheet attached to the bottom of the pannier will help with insulation but you still need an air gap.

Carbon cans won't get hot enough to melt the pannier. My straight through alloy micron doesn't either but only if I leave the baffle out.

Heat notwithstanding, with them touching like that it'll wear a hole in the plastic through vibration and risks putting stress on the exhaust system. I've seen stainless link pipes fracture when loaded over a longer term.
