So, like the previous thread, (and an opportunity to put some life back in the touring section of bcf)

who has plans for 2020?


I will start

I am going to be going on a tour of europe, around france/italy/croatia area (going through private touring company, so I hope I am in good hands )

Hopefully nothing goes wrong, as my first touring trip

How about you, a biker needs a good long trip to tell your grandkids what you did before you stopped biking?

I'm building a trials bike out of my 350 bullet.

I'm planning to do a classic long distance reliability trial at some point next year (2-300 miles of navigation with 8 observed off road stages).

Not bike related, but off to the Ice Hotel in Sweden.

Also, possibly a ride out to the Stelvio pass, an run around Devon & Cornwall as well, for starters.

I may actually have the Viffer to a point I'm happy to chuck a few thousand on in one hit. I may even have the time to take 2 weeks off.

Assuming so - it'll be either be a blast to and from Croatia, Montenegro etc, or I'll get a ferry to Portugal, go to the Faro rally, then ride back.

Taking a couple of months off work to tour Spain and Portugal next year. No solid plan nor internary. Pack the basics, explore and see where the road takes me.
Still haven't decided what bike to take. I'm in no rush but I'm looking at maybe buying a bike solely for the purpose. Dunno. I'll see.

I normally go to France two or three times a year and 2020 is no different, I am leading a small group to France in April and going again in June with my wife. I have planned a three day ride in June from Cumbria to Sussex. I am sure more trips will emerge as time goes by.

Same as last year for me , big plans that end up not happening
Summertime is a busy time for me workwise so I end up at some shitty venue in the middle of nowhere and not out on the road.

I want to do a 250 tour (because I can and I want to) but I’ll have to wait and see.

If and it’s only if I get the chance, I’d like to get back up to Scottishland.

Anywhere south of the Midlands is just to busy in the better months.

No definate plans for 2020 just yet,mainly because I have a number of legal procedures going on that need my whole attention.

After this years ride down to Italy and visiting seven countries over two weeks and 2280 miles or so,Mrs Fizzer and I have discussed seeing more of Austria than we have so far,with the intention of heading further east.Been looking at the maps sometimes but not set any dates.

There’s a lot of talk about the Stelvio, it does depend on what day you ride it, and what time of year, done it twice and both times in July on a week day and it was great, there was other vehicles on it but none to stop a spirited thrap up to the top and down the other side.
Well worth a visit if you like hair pins and fancy a decent picture of you doing your thing from one of the local photographers to show your mates. 8 euro a pop...

The 4 - 5 passes in Switzerland, grimsel furka susten are great but the weather up top can be hit and miss, as with the grossglocker in Austria.

Timmelsjoch is a fine pass one of the best I think but some of the roads and pot holes on the Italian side leave a lot to be desired.
The best road over the few tours has to be the B500 followed closely by any number of roads along the Route Des Crete’s in the Vosges.

In reply to the original topic which I totally strayed off... lol I think 2020 will be a quick 8 day dash around a few areas mentioned above, with an overnighter on the train to save some rubber 😛

I get precious little annual leave and share it with my non-motorcycling wife; so a week is the limit of what I'm allowed. I want to do the NC500, but probably in late spring when hopefully it'll be quieter

I did Stelvio and hated it.

I couldn't get into a rhythm and it felt like the bike was ready to fall over on the corners. I probably wasn't going fast enough but it's a long way down if you get it wrong and a fully laden Goldwing probably isn't the best bike to do it on.

I love the sweeping scenic roads you get some places in the Alps and certainly get in the Black Forest (along with gateauxy cakes ).

I might go back there this year as I have friends who live in Karlsruhe.

New on this forum but already inspired by others plans.
Mate of mine wants to visit Normandy landing sites. I've done that a few years back on F800Gs. Agreed to go with him just for the heck of it. But when he heads back coz of work, I've no need. So, already on European continent, head south. Fancy visit to Scilly, having previously been to Italy...though only down to Mandello to do a Guzzi bash.

Any tips on getting down to the 'toe' of Italy, ferry to Scilly, must see stops. Naples area on my list already.

I'm in no hurry. Intend to camp and b&b as dictated by weather and laundry needs Bike will be 2016 Africa Twin, unless exchanged by then for another similar sort.
