Hi all

Looking for a half decent bike cover which can be folded up quite small as will take it on my commute, any recommendations for mt09?

Was thinking of this in xl but might be too big to carry around

Those are good covers but from what I remember you will need a decent sized top box just to carry it around.

As you will have already found out, covers that are easy to carry are going to be thin and easily damaged.

If it's for work could you leave the cover there?

Yeah the issue is I work on 3 sites so need to carry a chain and cover with me, chain is fine in my 20L tail bag and I got a crappy cover off ebay but ripped first time so looking for something midrange and easy enough to fold up, doesn't need to be storm proof or anything as only for use during the day

Have the Stormex that I use/leave at home and and Aquatex I take with me to the office.

The Stormex is big when folded, wouldn't want to carry it around, the Aquatex folds up small is thin material but fairly strong. I've had mine for about 3-4 months and no rips so far.

If you wrap it up tight and fold it small probably about the size of 1kg bag of flour, maybe a bit bigger, obviously not as heavy though Laughing it fits easily in the kriega r15 backpack with plenty of room.

Keep in mind it's not heat shielded, so if the cover sits directly on anything hot it could potentially melt. Personally haven't had this issue but seen another bike with the same cover that is full of holes where it's been melted around the radiator. I would think the MT should be fine though tbh.

XL will be too big I think, L should be fine, you might even get away with a M.

Oh there was one issue I had, my fault though, it does warn you.

I pulled the strap underneath tight whilst the bike was hot and the exhaust melted it, could probably fix it but haven't bothered. The cover fits well enough that I'm not that worried. If it's very windy I'll pop the edge of the cover under the side stand so it doesn't fly away. It hasn't toppled over yet, but may do on a more upright side sidestand in extreme winds.

I’ve got an Oxford Protex stretch on my MT09-it’s a size large and covers the whole bike and just leaves the bottom of the wheels exposed.
This makes it easier to attach the strap under the bike and stops the bottom of the cover from getting grimy. Its nicely lined and comes in a carry case that measures 28cm x 35cm x 10cm.I wouldn’t go smaller imo.
