Here is something bizarre for you. I have a yamaha ybr 125 ̶d̶e̶a̶t̶h̶t̶r̶a̶p̶ bike which for some reason seems to have developed a new cool feature that allows you to admire your own face at high speeds, even when you would rather actually be looking where you are actually going.

when my bike is at 50mph faster speed for some reason the left hand wing mirror seems to start to bend backwards (at an angle that it starts to face you) , so instead of being able to look at the road behind to the left, I get nice view .........of my face Eh?

when you bring the bike back under 50mph, the mirror bends back to it's original position, so you can actually see the behind left again.

I suspect that the metal bar is weak, but the other wing mirror does not have the same problems.

Before I go out and spend a million pounds on getting a new wing mirror (and being charged another million pounds for garage labour costs) is there anything you guys could recommend that might solve the problem in the short term? As althrough looking at my face at high speed it .....er.... interesting Shifty I don't want to be explaining to the police officer after the crash that I could not check my blind spot because all I could see was my .....er..... massive helmet Wink

I have tried to play around with the wing mirror, as I thought it might be a loose connection bit to the handle , but I cannot see anything obviously wrong with this?

Help?

You can get universal mirrors for under a tenner. Make sure they come with left and right threaded adaptors (most do), as I'm sure I remember the YBR has handed threads.

Mirrors... get any you like! As mentioned Yammie tend to do left-hand and right-hand threads. Also check your thread size: most likely 8 or 10mm.

Maybe some bar-end mirrors, they always look good Laughing

Spring back ?
Has someone fitted cheapo plastic stem ones?

I've had loose and worn ones bend back in the wind but they never sprang back in position when I slowed down.
As said, they're pretty cheap just get 10mm Yamaha types which use a
LH thread on the LH side ( so the wind will tighten them)

You dont need to pay a garage to fit them, a 13/14mm spanner will do that.

They can't be OEM mirrors on your bike. As said above, even the cheapest mirrors off ebay shouldn't do that.

They aren't pushbike mirrors or something stupid like that?

probably, they do look very flimsy compared to other wingmirrors on other bikes , I suspect the dodgy garage that I got the bike from cut a few corners Thinking

still judging by the replies from you lot, it looks like replacing them will be not too bad Very Happy
