[Kawasaki Jimbo]

Took the MRA windscreen off the R1, washed it and set to with Meguiars PlastX and a rotary buff to remove some scratches and marks. I think some were due to me putting my gloves on top of the clocks. After 20 minutes and two applications I'm happy with the result. Finished it with some Mr. Sheen and a new microfibre cloth.

Spent a good part of the day fitting heated grips to my Black Inazuma.
My Red Inazuma has heated grips fitted by the previous owner and the
bike is off the road for a week pending a new rear tyre.

Fitting the R+G grips wasn't easy, I started with the wire from the battery
to the front of the bike which means removing 2 side panels and getting
the lead coming out near the front of the tank. There is a small panel
held by two bolts, removed the panel and placed some of the wires on
the tank and replaced the panel so 3 cables are seen coming out.

Put all the panels back on and removed the balance weight and then the
old grip and replacing with the heated grip. One problem, replacing the
bolt for the weight was a bastard but I found a way around that. After
getting both grips on I powered them up, working so all I had to do is
tidy the wire up.

Couple of problems with this job, the grips are not intelligent and are
wired to the battery so I need a relay to complete the job. The other
problem is that no connector on the positive feed so the wire is bodged
onto the terminal, it will hold till I get the relay.

Had the first annual dealer service on the Tracer today , the 6000 mile service, also had the seat lowering mod carried out, (fitting a different collar to the end of the monoshock), this lowers the bike by one inch approximately.
Ride home was 20 miles of pot hole country roads in the driving rain, so was unable to see what effect this has on handling, but I can now comfortably put my foot down at lights.
Will go for a proper ride tomorrow and see how the handling is.
I had my right hand pannier destroyed by a tw@t in an alfa Romeo some time back, been trying to get a replacement, but only available in pairs, just received a pair from ebay for eighty quid below list price, new in original wrappings. Also invested in a tubeless tyre repair kit, so geared up for a few long runs, if it ever stops raining.

Cleaned and lubed the Himalayan and put the battery on charge

Charged the Viffer's battery up. Fired the Viffer up. - Forks (maybe shock) get sorted this weekend if it doesn't rain.

A proper wash, polish and wax on the work hack. Coated obvious exposed metalwork with ACF50 - should be good for a while.

Annoyed smeglicking neighbour who decided to comment "They're dangerous these bikes - shouldn't be around kids". Neither bike has a baffle in at the moment. He should know by now just to shut up and leave me alone.

Bike cut out completely - just went completely dead - in the dark while travelling along a B-road. No lights, nothing. Coasted to a stop on the pavement and, by the light of passing cars, I discovered I'd made a silly mistake in not tightening up the nut on the positive battery terminal the last time I put it back. The screw had flown away somewhere. Tried a bit of metal a keyring, etc. and no luck. Just dangerous shorts and sparks flying everywhere. What eventually worked and got me home was a twig, which I broke up and wedged between the terminal and the lead, to hold them against each other.

Who said wood doesn't belong anywhere on a bike, eh.

Wow! What a day Hard to figure it's November. By midday I felt like taking my jacket off

Replaced the bent number plate holder on the Rebel and thought I'd also fit some new grips. Though specifically sold as being for the CMX500 I now realise the Rebel is a 1" handlebar and these are for 7/8" Glad I didn't cut off the originals before checking

I briefly considered doing some more work on the DT but it's such a nice day I figured it may be the last opportunity to give the Rebel a wash...

The Fenwicks seems just as good as the stuff that rhymes with "Fuck Off" Rinse, dry and then a nice coating of ACF50, some chain lube and brake disk cleaning.

All set for the winter, time for a cup of tea!

Stuck a decent dual camera setup on the work hack, wired it up to an illuminated button on the bars, so I can't forget to turn it off. DV688, not particularly cheap but the quality is decent enough, front and rear.

Took the Kawasaki into the shop for repairs after some twat did it some vandalism.
Can’t be arsed to pull the fairing off and work on the bike on my driveway.
It’s cold , raining and it’s a fiddly job, I’d rather pay someone to do the job for me.

Did a bit of cleaning on the Honley and plugged the Hyosung into the Optimate.

Ahh, the days of a single bike/ single cylinder two-smoke seem so uncomplicated

Removed the rear calliper to discover one of the pistons is seized.

RC8, stripped and cleaned the clutch in anticipation of the new friction disks arriving in the post on Monday. Good job I did as upon removing the basket I noticed the oil pump gear had cracked from when I've ballsed up the fitment last time.

This was an upgraded part from about 6wks ago, with no drilled out lightness holes, stronger but only when you fit the bloody thing properly. I'd not meshed the teeth, thought I had but it's hard to tell as the assembly is hidden behind the basket.

Luckily the teeth on the back of the clutch basket are fine.

Parts ordered, will be triple checking next time

CBR 6, took it out for a blast after setting tyre pressures, it's seen limited use over the last few weeks as cold wet nights bring out numpty drivers so I've been using the car for commuting. It feels great riding a bike after using the car so much.

That RC8 is going to be a locked and loaded missile, ready to go off the next warm dry day we get. Can't wait

Nothing to difficult, I ran some wires from the battery to a terminal behind the side panel with an inline fuse.
Now I can hook up the Optimate to the Honley without dismantling half the bike to get to the battery. Ya! Happiness

Went into the garage to see it was buried under piles of shite, dirt, coats etc. It was also cold in there.

First oil change on the work hack. Wasn't as bad as I thought it may be. No metallic sheen, no lumps. We'll see if it's sorted the gearbox feeling washy and being picky. Also oiled it's chain.

Charged and fitted new battery to Viffer. Went for a trundle on it, all works ok once things had unstuck from sitting. Will give it a longer run out tomorrow.

RC8 replaced the friction plates, needle roller bearing, removed Belleville spring. Clutch is no longer grabby, and after a quick blast it can be launched from a stop the way it deserves to be.

The basket and steels are the only bits of the clutch that hasn't been changed while trying to fix the issue. Old friction plates weren't warped and had plenty of material left so I wasn't expecting much improvement.

I'll have to clean it now though as the road was damp and a bit of crud got thrown up on it.

Can't wait for the next warm dry day
