Anyone going to the NEC show from the S Lincs area and want company?

So far, I'm going there alone, but might be dragging my brother-in-law along as well (from Stamford)

ps - if you've not been before, it's about a 3 hour ride from here.

Is it that late? Last time I went it was earlier - end of October or beginning of November - but that was quite a few years ago.

I remember sitting on a "Policeblade" - got some happy snaps somewhere, have to dig 'em out Smile

edit: 16-24th November:

It's not an invasion... I don't think you need to worry about it until at least a month before.

Well some of us old fogeys need to plan things a bit in advance - y'know, cancel our operations, stock up on meds etc etc Very Happy

Besides - it's once a year and I pretty much decide early on if I'm going or not on such a journey (3 hours one way on a bike is a major trip for me these days) and make sure I'm psyched up for it.

I've missed group trips there before because I didn't pipe up in time, so this year, I'm putting it out early.

Been 20 years since I last went - bluddy eck! If I find them photies I'll post a few Smile

PS - if I don't keep it in mind, I can guarantee I will forget about it until a week after it's been and gone! Seriously - done that repeatedly, as well as with the local meets. It's me opioids Confused

If I'm going I pre book an open ticket and pick the day which suits my companion the best. Doesn't matter to me what
day I go, I always drive up so best to pick a wet day if you can. No point going if you can't get a largish purchase home ok.

I've been looking at this further - and especially, the options for travelling there.

I'll be departing from Wyberton quite early - in past years (admittedly with a slower bike, two-up) it's taken me 3 hours to ride the 100-odd miles.

I usually go through Grantham and south round Nottingham - the middle of the 3 routes shown here:

https://i.postimg.cc/SRWR7hH6/Screenshot-914.png

But I'm thinking of taking the southern route this time. I ride those roads a lot and I think it will actually be quicker now that a couple of bypasses have been built that weren't there before. Plus I will know where I'm going without the map most of the way (GPS is for wimps who can't mapread Very Happy )

However, not wanting to take the motah, I looked at

A) flying (for a laugh) = just under £400;

B)Train = £45 (2 adults return) if we book 3 months early, up to £90 if we don't. Takes same time as bike.

C)Coach = £17.33 but takes 8 hours! Shocked

If I can't ride or the weather is really bad (done it thru storms before, but was younger and healthier) I think the train is the best bet.

See - planning ahead is always a good idea Smile
