1 month of cycling to work now complete
Covered 578km overall, and am visibly slimmer for having done so.
What's strange though is that my weight, according to the scales at home, has stayed almost exactly the same??? All I can think is that my 'cycling muscles' grew while the fat was coming off.
Mission isn't over yet anyway. I think one more month should do it, then I'll be back into what I would consider to be good shape. |

I ran for the bus once, puffing and panting, but caught it .
Got a couple of minor knocks that were quite painful on the knee and elbow.
So only light training this week and that wasn’t so terrible
A bit better now so back to proper training from Monday.
I just don’t seem to be able to improve my lung capacity no matter how I train?
I will keep plugging away, maybe it’ll come with time? ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

Work has prevented training lately.
Went training last night, much sweating and puffing!
We all got a bit excited and pulled each other around a bit to roughly
One of the lads got his contact lenses knocked out
I came out of things unscathed other than looking like I’ve been through a mangle
Feeling it today but I don’t mind
Back to sensible training tonight...... reps & combinations. ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

Went training last night.
Did 90% of the exercises, but just couldn’t quite finish .
The 2nd part of the session was ground work.
Kin ell! That took it out of me
Our Dojo is mixed and that means sometimes you get to fight women.
I fought a woman last night and fugging hell she was strong!
Not a big butch bird by any means.
She certainly knew how to use what strength she had
Anyhow Judo is coming along slowly and that’s cool, I like it like that.
I’m better than when I started, but I’ll never be a ninja
All this training means I genuinely have lost a bit of weight, happy days.
I continue to use the stairs and not the lift at work and walk around the site instead of using the works van.

Was a bit worried this morning, had a running event, back has been very stiff and sore all week, since cycling from Aylebsury to Portsmouth, and then Goring on Thames to Bedford. i cycled a 100mile ride, with 5,000ft of climbing, and a 55mile ride with about 2,000ft of climbing. Followed by a 20 mile round trip to check out the route to the running event.
Today, I ran an ultra marathon. I've never run a marathon before. In fact the furthest I've ever run is 15 miles. Today I ran over 30miles.
Quite slowish, but not too bad I guess as an average. It was laps of a lake in a forest centre, not point to point, so there was a feeding station and bag drop area, and I took quite a lot of stuff I didnt use, and a few bits I did. Changing hats as it warmed up, for instance, ditched the wooly hat, put a peaked cap on to keep the sun out of my eyes.
Did the half marathon distance quite quick. Marathon distance less so, last lap was a killer, managed to pick the pace up at the end to get in before the cut off for the next lap, but called it a day.
Also, whilst I did cycle there, I took up the offer of a lift back. |

Trained tonight, came home with no injuries
Got soundly beaten on the groundwork until the last bout then I got a good win
I reinforced what I already knew about trying to put a heavyweight opponent over your shoulder: DONT, they’ll squash you .
Funny thing is that I have genuinely lost some weight, but they’re still calling me ‘fatty’
I think this training is helping my agility to a very minor degree, so happy days.
Still the lack of lung capacity is hindering me. ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

I’ve spent the last week on this forum chirping on about my injuries.
Now the thing is , I’ve had to stop training.
I won’t be training anytime before the middle of January.
I bet it’ll be hard work getting back to where I was before all this happened.
Fugg fugg fuggy fugg!

10k done last weekend, did my 39th parkrun on Saturday and a Santa Dash. Its bloody hard work running in a full Santa suit (complete with beard).
I set myself a target of doing 600k this year and am currently at 658k but I have definitely plateaued with my pace and run times so in the new year I am going to take a friends advice and go for 1k slow pace, 1k as fast as I can, 1k slow to recover, 1k fast and 1k slow to finish. Plus more hills.
Also thinking of doing a local run clubs 10k(ish) Valentines Day run on the 16th Feb but I know its held in my local area with all of the massive hills! ____________________ Theory test - 19/8/09, CBT - 11/10/09, MOD 1 - 16/8/10, MOD 2 - 27/10/10

Set myself a goal of cycling 10,000 miles next year. Probably wont enter any running events though. |

For the first time in a couple of weeks I’ve been able to just walk up the stairs without making it into a five minute drama
The knee aches rather than hurting painfully every time I move.
Compression bandage and Co-codomol seems to be doing the trick to help this nonsense get better.
Going to do a little bit of walking today, just a little bit to see how I get on. ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

For the past month or so I decided to dramatically cut down my sugar intake.
I'm avoiding everything I'd usually partake in at work, birthday cakes and biscuits etc.
I've been checking sugar content on packaging too.
I've even changed to Coors light.
I'm now comfortably on a new belt notch, I feel way less lethargic than before and people are starting to comment on my appearance.
Haven't felt like this for a long time. |

Well done Bubbs I was wondering where you'd gone with this, thinking maybe you'd given up!
I'm still plugging away, but finding now that I can't afford to feed myself well enough to really turn up the heat on this. Doing the best I can though, and have seen some marked improvements. Winter's always a bit tougher for me. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017
