I was 16 at the time - must have been the 5th year, so I reckon 1982. I had an A50, which was an AP minus the pedals. The restriction was via a taper on the end of the downpipe, which was chopped off within minutes of getting the bike into the shed.

Looking at that photo, two of the lads had FS1Es, one had an RD50 and one an ER50. We also had an assortment of field bikes between us ranging from a Mobylette to a GT250 'rocketship'. The GT was the fastest, but the small lad with the long hair's CD175 was by far the loudest! The joy of living in the sticks when the village bobby (Ginger Ted) rode a pushbike and the Force had one Mk1 Escort only to cover hundreds of square miles....
