Hi,

I have just got my A1 Automatic license and would like to buy a scooter. I did my license on a Kymco Agility 125.

When purchasing a scooter for myself, what is it best to have a heavy scooter or a light weighing scooter?

For example: In terms of Dry Weight the The Kymco Agility Weighs more than the Peugeot Tweet.

Many Thanks

There is no automatic licence for bikes.

The one with the biggest wheels.

What colour was it? Remember, your licence is only valid on bikes the same colour as the one you passed on.

Oh gosh I'd forgotten about that. Does it still stand that an English pass can only be driven in England still?

A1 licence entitlement permits for a motorcycle, of any style, up to to 125cc and 12Kw/15bhp. In the UK and I suppose most continental Europe, IF tests taken on a 'Automatic' transmission machine, then the licence entitlement is endorsed 'Automatic Only'.
Moat 'Scooters' are twist and go 'Automatic' but this is not what makes them a scooter or A1 Complient.

The 'original' scooter in the Vespa had a manual, multi-gear' transmission, with the gears selected by a left hand twist-grip... they were also made of steel and weighed a ton, and were inordinately compromised in the design for ideas of being user friendly, like smaall wheels, the engine 'un-sprung', in the rear half of the machine and off-set to one side. Ie the thing had pretty perverse weight distribution from the go-get, the inordinately high roiling mass was only token towards offsetting these fundamental design inadequacies, motorcycles with bigger wheels and engines in the 'Werner' position (in the middle) didn't have.

SO... if I was worried about the riding dynamic, the all-up weight, I have to say, IS NOT something I 3ould be all hat worried about! If I was worried anbout the design, I simply WOULDN'T start by buying a small wheel, un-sprung engine in the back 'Scooter'!! I would buy a motorbike! If I had to have a scooter, with small wheels and perverse weight distribution? Well.. you pays your money and takes your chances! Ie its not really a question to factor into the purchasing deciesions!

You might start with a light scooter but once you load up all those pizzas it'll be heavy Smile

Tef is 'right', a1 but auto only. As for weight, dry and wet are variables most mortals cannot comprehend. Only sitting on and riding will give you proper comprehensive feel.

The ex-missus tested for auto-only car licence.... how she passed in a mystery on a similar scale to the lay-lines under the wonders of the ancient world.. but I have to admit she did give a pretty good blow-job.. so 'maybe'....
