ok thanks, but you just put your hand on the throttle, slowly apply it and listen if it sounds rich or lean, or hesitates to rev or splutters. Go down or up in jet sizes until it goes up and comes down fast and steady without spluttering and sounds clean af. When it sounds perfect, you could try to go a bit leaner for a bit of extra power at the cost of reliability. And if you want to experiment, keep going leaner until symptoms show up, and you know the border, and should go a few of jets higher for reliability. As easy as that. You just need to know the symptoms of rich and lean very well visually, theoretically and aurally. And i did make it do 0-100 in 6 seconds. Dyno saves time, but this saves money. Wink

If you are such a fucking expert, why are you asking us?

So you're trying to tune an engine with no load on it.

Good luck.

Only the weight of the wheel. It needs actual load on it like a dyno or... y'know a road ride?

This thread still going?!

Mix up some 20:1 wack in a big jet. Go down the road trailing smoke like a steam train, maybe consider the next smallest jet if performance is particularly bad. Rinse, repeat till you're happy the engine's "run in" Smile

As long as you err on the side of rich fuel / high oil what's the worst that could happen?*

Cant you run it in on the dyno whilst sorting the jetting?

Bloke is a bit of a nut case IMO. There's enough information out there to get him a rideable setting for initial running in, which on a coated cylinder takes a few hours at the most, not 100's of miles of riding. The fact that he thinks putting the bike on a paddock stand as a form of dyno, or that revving an engine to the red line tells him what jetting to use to perfection, shows his level of experience.

No race track or dyno, with wideband o2 measuring equipment = never going to get a perfect set up or peak performance at least using unleaded fuel.

What was the old plug chop method, get on the road, redline it in third, hit the kill switch, coast to a halt, then check the plug colour?

Or something like that, it's getting on for 40 years since I last guesstimated the jetting for a 2 smoke.
