I fired up one of my old pc's - specifically an Elonex with a pentium 90mhz and 64mb ram.

I had Turbolinux 6 (kernel 2.2.14) on it, and the only website netscape communicator 4.72 can load perfectly now is my own..

It used to load bikechatforums a few years ago - i know that was a while ago, but on the outside, the website hasn't changed.. Or has it?

Just interested, 'tis all. Cool

Pah. Modern rubbish. Install Lynx. Who needs graphics anyway?

There was an upgrade a while back, which it seems was purely to allow people to post dirty .GIFV in NSFW threads.

Turns out that it can be used to post gifv videos that aren't dirty. Shocked

That was two years ago and about the only thing to have changed since then is one or two custom titles and we all know it's the important stuff like that which keeps BCF going. Mr. Green

Nothing gets changed on BCF, it's much the same as it was 18 years ago. Shocked Saying that, I hope our esteemed leader is going to do something for when BCF turns 20 and it does have to be something good, not just pull the plug or send us bills for the years old bandwidth we've cost him. Laughing

Reading on from the other thread concerning "Goodbye win7".

Dependancies are why I cannot compile a later version of.. anything... So no navigator 7, or firefox 1.5, or opera etc. the inbuilt browser was all I can use.. Laughing Laughing

With no 'apt-get' or 'yum' command, trawling through the net for old source codes packages for dependancies that also have their own dependancies is a bit tiring.

I imagine it is the https addition... Rolling Eyes

Would it kill you to stick on another Linux flavour?

I bet puppy or one of its forks would work well on that PC.

EDIT: 75MHz, 40MB is possible

Unlike most linux distro's...

I bought this one, big box packaging.. from Staples for £9.80 in December 2000..

It has it's own certificate of Authenticity and everything..
It is therefore the linux I know best.

Though I have messed with a few. Most notibly Mandriva 2007 which I also very much liked.

But I digress-

I meant to say "can load perfectly on my own website". But that is pretty old and plain too. Cool Cool
