It's all your fault. Middle Finger Mr. Green Middle Finger

By which I mean, this thread has a nice red colour because of all the ratings KITT has earnt himself. You should join in, rating his abusive posts as abusive is quite therapeutic.

i did one or two posts because they were just flaming and unhelpful to anyone....

Oh and just to confirm as if there was any doubt now... Had a ride to Norwich to do some final xmas shopping.... (fuck there are some idiot drivers and pedestrians out there who think its perfectly ok to just pull out or just in front of a moving bike, because you know... bike isnt a car... less hurty when hit by one.

Anyway to confirm yep chains sorted everything out no more knocking :p

I do want to sort out whats causing my backfires... Maybe my spark plugs are on the way out.... or as some one mentioned gaskets. But what ones.

Exhaust gaskets.

Depends if they're proper backfires, or popping and burbling a bit too much on the overrun. Popping and burbling often means too much air is getting in somewhere. I've had it from rusted out exhaust headers, and from a big leak on an inlet rubber. Could be from leaky exhaust gaskets, but they usually make a really annoying metallic ticking noise. Makes people think they have a stuck camchain tensioner (because they also don't know what a camchain slapping around sounds like).

Noisy exhausts tend to also give you a lot of popping and burbling. I'm not sure if this is on purpose, or because the bike is running a little lean.

Proper backfires require a significant amount of unburnt fuel. I would expect it to be running very roughly if the spark plugs were so worn out that backfires were happening. Would be very hard to start, too.

Yeah its not like i can see fire shooting out my exhaust... Also its still stock... un still undecided on getting a new exhaust because i might be getting a new bike soon. Rather save the money......

But yeah its more like popping on gear changes... and im being gentle with the throttle too...

So yeah popping burping end of things...

Hey guys

Did you manage to fix this as im also getting a knocking sort of sound on slow speeds. I can here it under 20mph and have no idea what it is. I know my front brake disc was slightly warped from last MOT however it has been like this for 4 5 months now and this issue has only just started happening recently. The bike has got 18k miles on it. What do i check first?

Thanks.[/list]

I should have updated... BTW hi all... Been a while...

The popping burping was the downpipes forward blowing... The gasket had disintegrated...

I had been busy doing other things. I should have checked in more sorry
