Intro never had 2 3 4
the middle section is what you're remembering. |
Indeed, but I'm sure I've heard other bands use this as an intro... ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

well derr of course.
I was listening to an interview in December with Graham Fellows and he mentioned writing Jilted John during the lunch hour in the drama school canteen.
£80 to record the demo and purposely using 'ere we go 2 - 3 - 4' during the middle as a parody to the punk song intros of the time. Other quirky features included only having the 'Gordon is a moron' chorus once (name me another popular song that only has the chorus once).
He also couldn't play the guitar so had it tuned so he could play it using one finger. He was 19.
Martin Hannett the genius/madbastard produced the double A sided single. ____________________ Diabolical homemade music Bandcamp and Soundcloud

I am trying to think back to bands of that era that used "Ere we go, 2 - 3 - 4" or similar as an intro.
The most obvious one that springs to mind is the Ramones, as every song seemed to start with "1 2 3 4". If I recall from 'Its Alive' one also had "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8" halfway through!

I like the song with the Hot Chip chap. Reminds me of being pinned to the floor whilst watching Massive Attack many years ago... ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

Once enjoyed watching hot chip at a festival as their then drummer had superbly rhythmic boobs. That aside this album by Holy eff really does benefit from the guest vocalists.
The B side is more dancey and boppy.
S'good LP.

I'll just leave this here for one of those WTaF moments.
Zachar has taken himself off in a different musical direction.
I found him on Youtube quite a few years ago, when I was having a passion for Philip Glass.
He'd done some experimental clips of himself playing "Metamorphosis" (he's a reasonably skilled pianist) and dressed in the style of a 1920s bootlegger.
He's had a few ups and downs in his life, has our Zachar.
But he lately seems to have settled into a sort of contentedness that I am pleased to see.
I find him eternally entertaining, in some weird self-absorbed kind of way.
Plus ... he has a fab collection of Art Deco clocks. ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

...and I've just listened to a shed load of singles from that era including the UK subs and Angelic upstarts used it.
Plus the B side on an Adam & the Ants single.
I love Robyn Hitchcock....just putting it out there. ____________________ Diabolical homemade music Bandcamp and Soundcloud

I was trying to listen to Psyclon Nine (or something) but they were just little too ... screamy ... for me. ("Anaesthetic for the Pathetic")
So I jumped about a bit in a similar vein and I found
Sense of Decay by Asphyxia
which is more like something I think I can get into.
