You don't need any certificates. The bike either exceeds the maximum power allowable or it doesn't. It's either legal or it isn't.

However, I think versions of the Ninja won't be A2 eligible as it would have to be restricted to under half of its power. More detail required.

You cannot restrict any ninja 600 4 cyl to A2. Don't start asking which supersport bike you can restrict, you can't. Look at .gov a2 bike list.
Oh, and btw, going on an open forum and telling the world you will derestricts the bike is possibly getting you nominated for a Darwin award.

Hi

I saw the response asking why people want to restrict bigger bikes rather than ride one designed for A2, and this is a valid point of view, however I bought a KTM 790 adventure restricted and I can honestly say it has more than enough power for all but the most power hungry. I only really noticed it when I went on a motorway with an unrestricted speed limit and it started to slow down at 90 miles an hour and run out of puff at 100 when the unrestricted one probably goes up to about 120.

So guys where do you want to ride where you need to go above 80 mph (except in Germany) When I get my A in 15 months I will just remap the ECU and the bike will have its full 94 HP again.
incidentally does anyone know how to restrict a CX650, I am thinking of buying one but cannot find a kit online so far?

It's more about the acceleration and having the raw power to get you out of trouble (rather than INTO trouble) if and when you need it. For example legitimately overtaking a line of slow moving vehicles on a straight piece of road so that you can make progress instead of being stuck behind them all or overtaking them one at a time as each straight piece of road comes along on your A2. Another example would be on the motorway you're cruising along in the middle lane and some dick decides to change lane without seeing you, you have the option to blip it down 2 and accelerate into another gap in a different lane as braking to move into a different spot behind isn't always the safest option.
