"I play a 12 string guitar."
"Mine's got 13 Mr. Green"

Interesting tuning method. I mess around with some celtic style stuff on the acoustic sometimes, and it can be a proper pain, as there are so many different tunings for various pieces of music. Plus different tunings for various folk and blues (mostly slide) stuff. I can never remember them all. And that's just on a 6 string.

I found it more of an interesting instrument than an interesting conversation.

I have a mental block with that sort of stuff. Bass, ukulele and mandolin, no worries but move to 6 strings? Total dead loss Sad Probably be pretty shaky on a banjo!

I started watching your vid link but then I thought I'd better watch Annihilation first (as the references were coming in thick and fast in the first few minutes) so I just went with the thread title... the clash of cultures, as it were, and yet the beauty of music was inescapable!

A very interesting conversation that resonates strongly with me in so many ways. Henry Rollins (ex-Black Flag singer).

There's another one with him on JRE, I'll be headed there next.
