Hi everyone I’m really stuck I have a sticky carburettor when it’s on full throttle it cuts the bike out. I’ve striped it cleaned it. It’s doing the same thing. Only way it works is when you spray carb spray it revs fine and the plastic black ball thing moves back and forth. The bike is a Suzuki vl125cc the carburettor is a Mikuni bds26 I cant find any secondhand new is £600+

Is there another replacement for their model it’s has to throttle cables one to Push and one to pull.

If anyone can help it would really be appreciated.

Thank you in advance

That carb has been copied extensively and re-cast from the finest Chinesium Wink I'd take a peek at Amazon, eBay, Aliexpress, etc. and you'll probably turn up something similar.

If it was me I'd just get something like this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/For-Suzuki-EN125-Marauder-GN125-GS125-GZ125-Carburetor-Carb-Motor-Engines-26mm/163660393280

And see about swapping the throttle wheel thingy that the dual cables connect to from your original to the new one. Feck all money to have a go Smile

But before that I'd strip it and clean it again. This time check every channel for blockages and get the jets, emulsion tubes etc. under a magnifying glass. Also check the black rubber diaphragm for tears.

Hello Easy X

Thanks for the reply I thought that as well but it also has a throttle body position sensor on it as well.

I’ve been told the carb that on fleebay has a strong enough spring to load it back.

Thanks

Oh dear. Well looking at the pictures of the el-cheapo carb versus the proper VL one it looks like there was a space blanked off where the TPS would be. How do you feel about bodgery Wink

I've got a fair few BDS26 parts, and they're much better quality than the Chinese copies. The float bowls are attached by 4 screws, for a start. The finish is also a lot better. But if the Chinese ones also work, then what difference does it make? Regarding the TPS, I'm unfamiliar with your bike, but the idea is that the ignition timing changes according to throttle position. I never noticed any difference in performance with the TPS ripped out, when the timing was advanced 4 degrees anyway.

Any update on how this went? I am in exactly the same situation, got a (free) suzuki intruder 125, only problem its been sat for 12 years outside.
It almost ran after some cleaning but I stripped the carb and found the choke has siezed into the carb body, and the float slide doesn't move up and down anymore, I think I need a new carb but I cannot find one anywhere except an old one on ebay for 190quid!

I found that the v-star 250 also uses the mikuni bds26 but without the TPS, and with accelerator cable connection on the other side, the chinese imports look good but as you said, all have no TPS!

Is no TPS a dealbreaker? Anyone got a UK source on a vl125 carb? Laughing
