Suzuki C800.
I last fired it and let it idle in December. It has been on a 1.25A tender ever since.
Turned the ignition today, everything lights up, can hear the fuel pump whirring, press the starter and the whole bike went dead. No lights, no signs of life at all.
Checked all the fuses, none have popped. Dont have a 9v oblong battery for my multimeter and Boris wouldnt approve of going out to get one so any ideas what its likely to be?

You can use a battery and bulb as a continuity tester. You can take an indicator off and use it to check for voltage at various points in the circuits. Start at the battery and work forwards.

Try shorting across the solenoid posts and see if it turns over. That will tell you if the battery is good and the starter motor is working.

Its the battery. Kept the bike in the on position and pressed the alarm (which is simply wired by itself to the battery terminals). The alarm sounded then stopped working, drawing what tiny amount of power was left in there

That charger you were using? Was it an auto/trickle for a bike because if it's been trying to shove 1.25A into the battery for 3 or so months it could have contributed to it's demise.

It's a smart charger which is supposed to stop charging once it's full, and it had as indicated by the led on it.
The battery itself was some cheap shit one. Paid around 25 quid for it but it lasted a decent 4 years so it owed me nothing.
Forked out 50 quid for a Motobatt this time which has 14AH instead of 12 of the old one
