Wtf got Tesco into thinking that tomato chutney should be about 30 (yes, thirty!) % sugar?! Should have checked before I picked it up, but they didn't have any pickle of any brand left, and I wanted something to moisten a cheese sandwich a bit, so just grabbed it
Oh, and I tried it with a tin of sardines in brine (drained) that had been sitting in the cupboard for a bit - good time to use stuff up. Hmmm. Not particularly recommended! ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

It's perfectly normal for chutney to have a high sugar content. It's effectively a savoury jam. It will neither set nor keep without a high sugar content. |
Oh right, I didn't know. I've never really been a chutney person except for sometimes a spicy mango chutney with a curry. Which thinking about it now, yeah, is quite sweet. I'd ask for a recommendation for something less sweet, but the shelves are nearly bleedin' empty of anything at the moment And I'll likely just go back to a nice tangy pickle once that's there again. I mean, that's sweet too, but not as bad as this chutney I bought.
Think I'm beginning to get more sensitive to sugar content in things though. I don't mind a bit now and again if something is meant to be sweet, but when it becomes overpowering in everything, savouries included, it gets a bit tiresome. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

I think I tried it once a long time ago and hated it. Besides, I think it's radioactive. Anything that yellow...sorry,YELLOW!...must be radioactive. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017
