There is... in hospital we need tests that give results quickly, so we can identify infected patients and isolate them.

Sure, because you already have a vulnerable patient, but the rest of us are sensibly being told if we have symptoms we should simply self-isolate. This also means the stats are skewed because those getting tested are the most likely to react particularly badly to the virus.

Testing is only a numbers function.

If we were doing this properly isolation is the only way to beat it.

We cannot tell who has the virus when they are infected and much more importantly infective.

If one infected dies they take the virus out too.

A virus' whole reason to be is to multiply and prolong it's DNA.

Any organism that kills the host before replicating is not long for this earth.

So it needs to be able to adapt/mutate and cross over to other hosts.

In our case we don't test enough people in general, even hospital staff don't get tested...

I think the non-testing of NHS staff is changing daily. We were told last Thursday that our Trust wants to test us if we think we have symptoms. They also want us to continue working with patients' in the community...but I suspect that may change soon enough too.

I’ve just finished 10 shifts in a row at our hospital.
Staff are monitoring each other (just keeping an eye on each other)

I had my temperature taken twice, just as a precaution.

So yes staff are being checked, even if it is informally.

Rewatched that the other day. Surprisingly ambitious film (should really read the book, I suspect.) Bit too much bollox in it to make it a "cult classic" like 2001 IMHO.

Just more proof that civilised (in terms of sanitation and hygiene) and uncivilised societies cannot co-exist.
Unless of course you happen to subscribe to the bio-weapon theory.

I don't, but I think accidentally China is going to come out of this extremely well.

How much of this will be reported though is a different matter, in case it fuels racism towards yellow people.

The civilised West has been decimated by a hygiene related disease that a hygiene poor region appears to be recovering from and less folk died.

I think us white folks have enough disgusting Clatty bastirts to make up.

Dirty Clatty bastirts who touch their Pee Pee then don't wash thier filth carrying hands.

Also posted to the "Coronavirus" thread, but saw your comment here:

A small graph on the observance of "social distancing":

How differences in distancing will have a huge impact on the spread of COVID-19.

I suspect that in the UK we're rather bearer the orange than the green.
