Lifesavers everywhere, before you do anything. Before you move off, a left look if you're in the right or middle lane. Before you change speed (at a sign) before you stop, before you turn everywhere!
Pay attention to the back brake when emergency stopping, you need to show you're applying at least a little pressure. Also do a check when you start and finish the U-turn.
Overtake if possible, dawdling will lose you points.
If you fuck up do it safely, if you're gonna take a wrong turn or something just do it properly i.e. check, indicate, move over, check, turn, look.
keep an eye on road positioning. Move over to the left if you're turning left, right if ur turning right.
When stopped always adopt the safety position, left foot down, right covering the rear brake.

Not much else I don't think

U-turns shouldn't pose a problem on the NSR I did my 2 training sessions and my test on my TZR and I think only once out of the 20 odd U-turns I did I put my foot down. One thing I never really did in the u-turn was use the brake I felt it had too great an effect and unbalanced the bike, all clutch control. Also do it sharpish and there's less time to think about it and go wrong and as someone said, don't look at the curb coz it really doesn't help.

Yeah, i still remember all the stuff about where you look from my CBT. Its worrying how little they have to teach you to allow you on the road. A woman on the course at the same time, dropped the bike while she was doing a U turn.

Thats just not safe having someone like that on the roads imo!

uhm, dropping the bike on a u-turn is not particularly terrible. Pulling out in front of traffic and dangerous driving, no control etc its dangerous, my sisters dropped the ER-5 doing a u-turn on her DAS, she was awful back then but she's a fairly good rider now.

And the lifesavers you need to do on your CBT are only a fraction of the ones you have to do for your full test, I really think you're gonna struggle taking the test with no lessons.

I'm not going to comment, as I have no way of knowing how good I am. I feel, and from what I have been told in here, that I can, such as the ride I went on this evening, that I can do all my lifesavers, speed limits, and proper checks etc Wink
