For the past few years I have been blessed by having membership with ADAC for breakdown and recovery all over Europe for the bargain price of €84 a year. It's come in handy a few times:

* Once for a head gasket failure on the M25 heading for Dover which got me home with the AA the same day

* Personal recovery from Northern Italy after I broke my collarbone whilst riding a mountain bike. They shipped my bike back home inside of 6 weeks and got me a private ambulance to Milan and flight back to Manchester. I didn't have to pay a penny 👍

Today though I got a letter that I was dreading but I knew would come eventually, one that says my Europe wide membership will end at my next renewal date. They'd sent letters in the past that such benefits wouldn't be available to be members so it was only a matter of time before it extended to current members.

I guess I'll have to look elsewhere for reasonably priced breakdown for UK and abroad in the future. 😒

Bemoto offer full European cover for you and your bike as part of every (I think) policy, and they were the cheapest when I renewed in February.

Go teuro recovery thrown in fro a small extra cost with my insurance. Only way I could get euro cover on a bike over 25 years old without selling a kidney.

I also use ADAC and have had some use out of it in the way of free car rental for 4 days when my car was declared unusable (but I had a new alternator on the way)..

I had a feeling this would happen.. And I dreaded it too ever since they stopped allowing non-german households to sign up to them on new contracts.

I am now going to be awaiting my own letter.

I’ve only just been made aware of the changes by a friend, as my letter hasn’t arrived yet, and my mind was trying to work out if it was possible to switch the membership address to one within mainland Europe to maintain the plus+ aspect. But if ADAC are restricting the plus+ aspect of membership to German addresses only then that is a huge change of policy. AFAIK membership by UK will still be allowed by cover will be reduced to the basic package and cover will only be for German territory

Life changed but I’ve been lurking around here but lost my login information.
I’d not see you since the scumbags tried to steal your bike from outside Frenchie’s party.
