This is my first post
I’ve just managed to get the Katana up and running after a bit of fettling over the past few weeks.
I originally bought this in the late 80s from Cusworths in Doncaster for about £900 . Went to the TT on it a few times and then , as you do I moved on . I sold it to a mate who didn’t use it a lot, the last time it was taxed was 1996. Since then it has been in the back of his garage.
He needed the room due to other bikes and let me have it back and that’s when the fun stated. Brakes binding, gunged up carbs etc.
I’m no mechanic but have eventually got it running nicely and MOTd just today.
Having had a decent run on it I can say I really like it and realise why I bought it back in the day. It still has Bushys brew stickers on it from 89 & 91, I’ve managed to keep the 4 into 1 which it has always had on since I’ve owned it. Not planning to restore it, just ride, maybe take her back to the classic tt when conditions permit.
Not the most popular Katana but a nice smooth engine and ride, plus shaft drive! I think I will be keeping it . Perhaps let the Yds7 go if I cannot find enough space in the garage. ____________________ Tracer GT, Yamaha yds7, Suzuki gs 650g Katana |
