Hi all, not long joined here. After riding bikes of all sizes over the years, including a spell being paid to ride one (Not plod) I decided to return to the fold after an eight year absence at the grand old age of 67. I wanted something small and light, so after negotiations with the boss I went for a cheapo - A Lexmoto Isca, brand new from a local dealer. Dismissed by many as junk, but some decent reviews in the press which reckon they've improved a lot in recent years so I thought with a two year warranty and a well regarded local dealer I thought I'd take a punt.

Thought of a used Jap machine but every thing I looked at was a heavily thrashed pile of rust, not surprising really as most are owned by young learners and not well cared for. 3000 miles and SEVEN previous owners? What could possibly go wrong. Anyway the Lexmoto arrived yesterday and it certainly looks the business if nothing else.

Now for the bad bit. Half an hour before the dealer delivered it I tripped over a mat in the kitchen, went down, banged my bonce on a cupboard door, and tweaked my knee. Not bad so far, no serious damage to either. But looking down at my little finger I'd caught it on the edge of the cupboard, ripping a bit of flesh open which luckily did not come off completely. So a few hours in A&E (Just where you want to be at the present time) and they managed to stick me back together and send me home with a pack of antibiotics. Unfortunately the finger is in a splint, taped to it'd neighbour so I don't bend it and padded as thick as possible with a dressing. Any bike riding is impossible, so it looks like next week's forecast glorious weather will be spent looking at the thing in the garage instead of out riding it.

So a bit of sympathy for my plight before the 200 posts telling me it will fall to bits in months (The bike I mean, not the finger).

Meh, I've ridden with a broken right wrist in a plaster cast.

Waht? Sympathy? "Lay off the booze, you great tit"™

Less oil for you, more for the bike, it will be fine.

Nice looking bike! Blue or black? Too bad about the finger, clutch hand? If it was me I'd be out riding anyway, unless my hand was bandaged up like a club. Oh! Wait a minute...no I wouldn't. But I'd be tempted! Wink

Welcome Mr Joe.
How nice to come across a newbie who doesn’t want anything and has the time to tell us a bit about themselves and thier biking past, even if it was very brief.
67 is not to old for a bike if you’re up to it Thumbs Up

Don’t know what your bike looks like, I can’t see any pictures?

Bikes a black one, no chance to take a decent photo yet as it's sitting in a poorly lit garage (Awaiting a lighting upgrade).

It's brand new so a stock photo will be the spiting image. Unfortunately it is the clutch hand and it is so heavily wrapped even driving home from A&E was a pain as I kept catching the indicator when I turned the steering wheel. No chance of getting a glove on either.

Luckily when I packed up I kept all my gear bar a jacket so that's all I really need, though I plan to get a new flip up helmet as the lining had collapsed in the 25 year old Caberg I had. I still have a perfect condition open face which will do for now. I'm amazed a how cheap flip ups are now even with DVS. Even a standard one cost a fortune when I got mine.

My last bike was a GPZ500s which I paid £300 for in 2012 after a break and that was three times what the complete dog was worth. Last bike on my full on biking career was a GSX750W, a fantastic machine which myself and Mrs SJ took all over the country. The guy I sold it to still has it, but it's been on SORN since 2010. What a waste, I'd love it back but it would be a bit heavy for me now and the boss would not be happy and who knows how it has been stored?

Disc brakes front and rear, piggyback rear shocks. I perceive an attempt to be competitive. Not bad.

Welcome Joe and thank you for your articulate posts.. The lexmoto looks great and from what I can see not too much chinko chrome to deal with. A dousing in ACF50 should preserve it OK.

Did it go like this..?

I can't blame the floor, just my own stupidity. I am still angry with myself and the poor old Lex is sitting in the garage getting no more than the odd wipe with a duster. I'm hoping To be able to get the splint off later this week so I can bend the finger and get a glove on.

I must say, having owned bikes from a CB175 up to a GSX750W I am surprised at how heavy modern "Lightweights" are in comparison. I once had a DT175 and according to a google search the dry weight was 86kg, mine is 130kg and is considered light by todays standards. Mind you, it does come with a lot more kit. Pleased to see a back up kick starter too, I'm getting a bit long in the tooth for bump starting now.

Thanks to all for the welcome.
