Epic games has GTA V free (full version forever). Grab it whilst it's on free offer.

The Grand Theft Auto V: Premium Edition includes the complete GTAV story, Grand Theft Auto Online and all existing gameplay upgrades and content. You’ll also get the Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack, the fastest way to jumpstart your criminal empire in GTA Online.

Epic have throttled the download speed due to 'high demand in your region'.

Been going for about 5 days now, still13gb left!

I've finished GTA5 already so don't know if I'll even play it much. Great freebie anyway.

I can't believe how large some games are now. I haven't really done gaming for a few years now, and am only getting more into it because of this lockdown shite.

I downloaded Ark a couple of months ago and was stunned to find it takes up 170GB of space.

GTA5... 90GB.

A mate of mine wanted to play Red Dead Redemption. That's another 150GB.

The mind boggles. Last time I played any serious game, I was amazed if the install size was over 2GB.

Didn't know Ark was that big, I downloaded it and never played it. 2Tb of storage and I'm still running out of room, 170Gb would be a nice little bump of space!

Completed it a while ago on the PS4, but I've added this to my account anyway - graphics etc are always better on a PC Wink Just gotta find time to play it, barely even get to touch Kerbal Space Program lately.

Mad isn't it.

100gig pretty much for Warzone. It has it's own SSD for god sake. Granted an old SSD which is only a 120gig, but still. Software I need for work such as Revit takes up another decent portion on my main SSD.

I'm with you on the older games and small file sizes! Even WoW back in the day was what, 10gig? I remember it being f**king massive. I'm now looking at a cheapy M.2 SSD, 256gig is only around £50. Laughing .

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

This is a complete thread derailment but the following video provides a fascinating insight into how memory was such a serious issue back in the day, and how it took real brains to overcome it.

How Crash Bandicoot Hacked The Original Playstation | War Stories | Ars Technica

In a way, gaming helped push the boundaries of computer science on the whole. These days everyone just uses Unreal Engine or Unity and throws 100GB of textures in, for the user to deal with.

That's been true for most of the recent Civ games really. The enemy seems way too focused on building stuff for they cities or research and wont even bother buying troops even when your army is at the gates.

Oh boy I've watched that. Amazing. There's also an extended version of the interview which I still need to watch. Thumbs Up .

Very much this. They chuck a few units at you to start with, but once you've done away with them, they don't build any more. Meanwhile you slice your way happily to victory.
