I've been riding a 2018 keeway txm 125 with fuel injection for two weeks now and it only starts up if I give it some throttle, I then have to hold the throttle slightly open for a few seconds before I can slowly release it and let it idle, if I quickly release it it will stall. It also stalls when I come to a stop and allow it to idle unless I do the same thing, hold the throttle slightly open then gradually release it. Once I'm moving it rides fine other than some small jolts at low rpms. There is little information about this bike online or in the manual but I believe it has a delphi efi system. Im new to fuel injection but i checked the idle air controller and it is clean, any other ideas on what the issue may be?

Sound like you checked the obvious culprit. Although clean, is it actually working I wonder? Look for poor connections (green connections are bad) and check earth points are clean and tight. Is your battery good?

Also I'd chuck some injector cleaner in the tank as well- can't hurt anything.

Valve clearances! inb4 Nobby Smile

Seriously though, that could be it. Also have a peek in your airbox to see if all looks normal.

I've ordered some feeler gauges so i'll check my valve clearances once they arrive tomorrow, i'll also check my airbox, thanks for the help.

I only mention the airbox as when I looked at the one on my old Keeway there was some sludge build-up from the crank case breather pipe. Wasn't actually a problem at the time but good practice to give it a clean.

So I tried to adjust the valve clearances and actually made the issue worse. The rocker arms were forced down onto the valves by fairly strong springs, so I had to lift the rocker arm up with pliers in one hand and check the clearance with my other hand, all through a tiny inspection port. It now wont start at all when it's hot and seems to have less power, it also backfires now. Obviously I'll have to try this again and maybe get somebody to help me, I just hope that that's the only issue. I looked through the spark plug hole and noticed that its incredibly dirty in there, maybe due to running it with bad valve clearances, so I may even open it up and clean the valves.

Eh? With all due respect I think you must be doing it wrong. I had a Superlight for... well, long enough to check the valve clearances a few times Smile

Anyhoo, 3 or 4 bolts for the rocker cover. It will come off the bike if you're careful. Worse ways loosen the tank so you can lift it a few millimetres to get some clearance. Now you have the rocker arms exposed you should see them move up and down if you push the bike in gear or perhaps (but less accurate) dick with the kickstarter. Most accurate is to pop off an engine cover and turn the flywheel by hand.

Get the arm you're looking at (inlet or exhaust) to close so there's no pressure on it and then break out the feeler gauges. I couldn't tell you the correct gap right now but it should be in the user manual. Don't mix up metric and imperial if your gauges have both numbers etched on!

I would imagine they will need (re)adjusting so just be very careful to hold the square bit steady with some small pliers while you tighten the nut as every fraction of a millimetre counts Smile

<addendum> apologies in advance for the incoherence, best I can manage after a litre of rosé!
