Hi all,

My CBT runs out 20th July. My plan was/is to get an A2 before this expires. (as far as I understand you require a CBT to get an A2, please correct me if wrong).

Unfortunately, due to COVID closing down test centres, I don't know if I've got enough time.

The earliest test I can find starts on 21st July...

Does anyone have any advice for this? I feel that they should have extended CBTs similar to how they did MOTs but I've seen no such extensions.

I'd really rather not spend £100 and a day of my time to get a CBT that I don't particularly want or need!

Cheers

As far as I know you will need a CBT. It's worth talking to providers to see if they will do renewals, many will do renewals, and you may find the course will be varied at the provider's discretion to comply with physical distance requirements.

Edit: If you are a key worker, you may be able to get a test sooner. Yes, it would have been nice had CBTs been extended like MOTs, but they haven't been.

Thanks. Guess I'll give some test centres a call Monday and see what they can do, if anything.

There's no tests until around 1st July at the earliest according to Dvsa. You could probably get your CBT on 1st day of training depending on school.

Is this wrong (see the paragraph: "Booking your tests")?

All our tests were cancelled and that was it. Nothing was said about key workers. Not a jot. Not that we couldn't do it, quite easy to social distance out on the bike.

I could be wrong it's been awhile since I done my test but I thought it's cbt then theory/theory then cbt(either order) then mod 1 and mod 2

Yes, it's either. Not sure what difference this makes to the OP though? He wasn't asking about theory tests.

You can't do MOD 1 without both CBT and Theory Thumbs Up
