So I've got my theory booked, and I'm hoping to do my das ASAP.
I've got up to 2k to spend on a bike, and I've been looking mostly at thundercats. However, a friend of mine has told me he will sell me his triumph sprint St 955i for around a grand. Needs a couple of things but it's cheap for the condition.

Now, would that be a stupid thing to ride after only just passing my test? I've been riding for years on l plates, but I know that won't make too much difference.

I think if you are reasonably sensible you can ride anything as a first big bike.

My Sprint is the first bike I've owned since my 125.

It is (by my standards) ballisticly fast. The 955 engine has so much torque, delivered in such a linear format that it just piles on speed very easily. It will get you into triple digit trouble very easily.

That said, it is very docile and very easy to ride. It doesn't demand to be ridden fast and is just as happy pootling around at a more pedestrian pace. All that torque also translates to making it easy to waft around at lower revs, it's easy to relax and take in the scenery if you are so inclined.

So the tl;dr is if you can control yourself, go for it. You've got riding experience already, so you know how to ride a bike (irrespective of capacity).

If it's a sound bike, then £1000 is a good price.

I can only echo the advice already given.

Basically any bike will only use the power you input so if you're sensible with it, you'll be fine on anything really Thumbs Up

Agree with all the above, but depending on your age and/or location, you may want to check insurance prices first just in case you get a nasty surprise. Thumbs Up

Cheers everyone. I'll be checking insurance later today, but chances are in my area it'll be pretty cheap.

Now just gotta pass my test.
