Got offered this cheap and I just *had* to save/ruin it.

Been sat for 8 years outside. So rusty the oil filter had a rust hole in it so it pumped oil out when you cranked it. Laughing

Essentially it's the full bagger version of the kawasaki VN1600, which is the only bike I know of with a totally redundant electrical system, I.E two stators, two rotors and two reg recs. One runs the bike and the other is to run your speakers, neons, electrified tassels etc. Electrical system is capable of putting out a combined near 50 amps, which is mental.

Anyway, I digress...

Whole bike was this mank. Zorsts were shot, frame scabby, disgusting paint, dry rotted tyres, blown shocks, caked fuel system, seized gearshift (runs through bushing in stator case - 4 hours to unseize that one) seized bolts everywhere, seized rear brake lever, seized calipers, leaking clutch slave, blown engine paint etc.

It got:
Custom made inch drop resprung Hagon shocks
Cheapy DA stamped Avon Whitewalls
A fuelpak for the inherent leanness in the later injection bikes
Delkevic pipes (complete with handmade rear mount bracket as the original bike had a totally different touring exhaust)
Some powdercoating
A 6 inch headlight
Cut down rear mudguard with tigged bracket
Reshaped seat
Pair of flush indicators
Pair of painted Harley indicators
Frame painted as much as I could
Painted wheels.
About 70 cans of satin black.

I bought the bike on the 19th may and it went for MOT on the 5th of June. It was a fuckload of work to pack into two weeks but it came out okay, and is good fun to ride. Something different to my ZZR14 and turbo bandit. Laughing it also sounds like the end of the world.

Note the plate in these pics did not go to MOT. Laughing

I realise that it won't be to everyone's taste, and I apologise there isn't really a build thread, but it was mostly 1 in the morning when I left working on it so didn't really feel like doing post updates. Laughing

I'm just glad it didn't get scrapped. It owes me about 2200 quid, which is not a lot to pay for a big capacity modern hap cruiser. It rides great, controlled and surprisingly nimble for it's 67 inch ( Shocked ) wheelbase. Motor is 4 valve, overhead cam, liquid cooled, twin throttle body and makes 94lb/ft at 2100 rpm before the pipes and fuelpak so it goes alright. Believe it or not it is nearly 100kgs lighter now than it was.

Certainly less of a tarts handbag now.

Shame about that instrument nacelle, kind of detracts from otherwise reasonably clean lines.

I reckon so. You are correct of course, the unfortunate cruiser illness of bolting gauges directly to the tank does somewhat spoil the nice teardrop shape it has.
