Not sure if my coils are installed wrongly. Manual says firing order is
1-2-4-3 ; and the cylinders are numbered 1-2-3-4 going from left to right across the cylinder head (if sat on the bike for example)

If you look at the attached wiring diagram it shows the red and black coil leads 1 and 4 go into the first 2 cylinder holes, 2 and 3 into the next 2 etc. However, i think mine have been installed so the lead with number 4 written on it, is in the 4th hole along, 3 is in the 3rd hole. Confusing but hope you understand my question Laughing Laughing

Would that cause a running issue and spark issue? Does the lead with 4 written on it go into the 2nd cylinder hole across like i thought, number 2into the 3rd and so on

Cheers .

1243 is the firing sequence. 1234 is the position. 1 and 4 should be on one coil, 2 and 3 on the other.

It's down to the crank and pistons being balanced to reduce vibration.firing sequence is quite different to position. The middle pair go in opposite directions as do the outside pair. This forces the firing order.

If you really want to break your head, look up cross plane crank.

Thanks. On the diagram plug 4 is in the 2nd cylinder across it looks like, but on the bike its plugged in where number 3 is on the diagram. 3 is where 2 is. im curious if its wrong

Wiring diagrams dont show where things are actually positioned. Does it actually look like a bike on the wiring diagram? No it doesnt.

Stop worrying your pretty little head.

Does it run? If so, leave it alone.

Remember it has wasted spark ignition. It's firing at the top of the compression stroke and again at the top of the exhaust stroke.
