Raring to go, just need someone to babysit for a week while I convince my mate, I mean my mates wife, to allow my mate to go.

Challenges ahead.

Oxford Saddle bags and tank bag fitted perfectly. 130 litres to cram as much beer as possible while going to the IOM TT.....I wish. Enough to fill with a dismembered body though.

TL;dr Looking for a baby and dog sitter while I head of somewhere into the abyss. I quite fancy going to Poland to visit the 2nd world war sites.

What's the recomendations for a good route around Europe?

Anyway back to my whisky, it's easier to dream after a couple.

What do you guys use for luggage?

ZZR - I have a set of soft luggage that my Mrs made from modular tankbags I found in a closing down sale. She had access to a proper industrial sewing machine at the time so it's seriously well made. I'm sure it's the reason she nudged me to get another ZZR.

GSXR - Seat hump is surprisingly useful, if that fills, I put on the pillion seat and just tie an old army daysack to it, if that fills I have a variety of tank bags (possibly a dozen) but the bigger ones stop me getting down on the tank and hiding behind the screen at speed so not ideal. I've actually gone away for 2 weeks with just what I could carry on this bike.

Enfield - Tie shit to seat or wear a backpack. The tank is too skinny for a magnetic tank bag, decent sized ones overhang and move about. I really need to buy a rack but the one for my dual seat costs silly money from Hitchcocks and I'm a stingy bastard.

Though to be honest what usually happens is I go somewhere with no luggage and end up coming home with what looks like a Pikeys handbag held on precariously with an assortment of 15+ year old bungees.

Looking at your picture for distance I'd want the tankbag as a tailbag and a taller screen, maybe just the picture angle but the screen looks to small to tuck behind. Where you mounting your SatNag/Phone?

I run a similar setup for camping, but throw I throw one of those over the back seat/top of the panniers. A tail bag would work too if you dont have a huge amount of kit.

https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/279242

Inside that I have a bunch of smaller dry bags/tent etc.

Rear rack helps as a tie down point.

Ive given up on my euro tour this month, quarantine rules keep shifting for different places... although people are traveling for sure.

Think I've found my add on bike

ZXR400

£500

Needs some TLC, something to get me occupied. Can't be without at least two bikes.

Hopefully I'll get round to fixing it up, if not I won't lose anything and have the pleasure of an old 400 sports bike.

What do you guys think?

Anyway it's too late I've already set my heart on it since becoming a Kawasaki fanboy these days, green is always best Very Happy

If you want to play with spanners then £500 isn't alot to drop.

Crap bike though, quick action throttle, rearsets and weirdly clean looking fairings? That has been murdered on track and is probably being sold due to being on deaths door. He's just replaced the headgasket yet is now selling it...... bet that's a bodge job.

There are no good 400 sports bikes anymore unless you pay collector money and fuck paying that. All the average ones have been bought, restored and collected, most the rough ones been stripped for parts because prices are high.

If you want a lightweight revvy toy look at GSXR600 SRAD-k2 (1996-2002), if you hunt and wait you can get decent ones for 1200 quid.

Or if you really, really want a 400 grey look at the naked stuff, still over priced but much less so. Honda NC27 CB1 or CB400 Super Four.

Does it come with the V5?

How many thousands would you be expecting to spend fixing it up? Laughing

How many fix-up projects have you seen to completion? How much spannering do you usually like to do? How many times will this bike get sold on as an unfinished project? Laughing

Yes it has the V5. On further consideration and listening to you guys I am not going for the bike. Probably just sit in the garage stressing me out because I hadn't got round to fixing it. I also think you are right with it being a trackbike.

I think £500 is a good price, but someone other than me can have it.

I need something I'm having with drawl symptoms with only one bike. Laughing

Took the bike to the closest Kawasaki dealer, which is 50 miles away, for it's first service.

All well and good the rain was off, the only downside is that I arrived a day early for the service Embarassed Feckin idiot.

To be fair to Kircaldy Kawasaki they lent me a bike to go back home with. Take it back tomorrow afternoon.

Z900, nice bike, nice and smooth, less twitchy than my bike. After a few hours on it I wouldn't buy one though. The H2 is lovely but at £26k a bit out of my price range.

Tempted by a ZZR1400. The Ninja 650 is too dangerous. Have to screw the nuts out of it to do a reasonibly quick pass on a A or B road. Had a longish ride today. Struggling to find opportuniteis for overtaking

I suppose after the fireblade 69HP is not enogh to make good progress Sad

Watch this space as a new bike could be on it's way Very Happy Going to test ride a ZZR, a Z1000SX and the cheapest H2.

I do live in dreamland.

Back to my whisky thinking about a decent overtaking manoeuvre.

Ninja 650 has a great seating position and comfy. I think it looks really good, Has gear position indicator, ABS. I think it was a great value bike getting a grand of because it was the 2019 model with a 2020 plate.

It's to blinking slow. Needs another 20HP. Ruins it for me.

For my next idiotic stint in my life I have the desire for an old school 400.

I'm not for putting it in the garage. I'm going to ride the nuts of it.

Thanks for any advice on purchasing an 80's or 90's 400 sportsbike?

They are just great as far as I'm concerned, great on twisties passing GS1200's, well in my head anyway. Would potentially buy an RD350LC though but they are too expensive, probably would be good investment except for the fact that I would thrash it, drop it and not clean it.

Not sure about the price, considering it is not the original paint or parts. What do you guys think of the bike in the link? It is close enough to where I live.

Thanks guys.

I don't think it's worth the money but I don't know your financial position, that may be pocket change.

400's were awesome when you could get them for cheap and abuse them without caring.

For the price of that RVF I'd rather have this killer K, you want adrenaline try riding one of them aggressively https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1989-SUZUKI-GSXR-1100-K-SLINGSHOT-ORIGINAL-BIKE-MAY2021-JUST-RECOMMISSIONED/164353976844?hash=item264442aa0c:g:cRsAAOSwe7FfTMNX

Looking for a 400 though. My financial position will be zero after spending 4 thousand on something. Money is a figment of the imagination. Spend it all is the way to go. Save up for retirement my arse. May as well buy a mororbike. I've sold my cannabis shares because they have not increased very much at all....would be better of selling the shares buying 4 grands worth of cannabis and selling it for £10/g. Now that is a good investment. Unfortunately that is not the way to go for me. A motorcycle is a better way of spending money.

New addition to the family. Baby Blade was born yesterday. Has been brewing since 1994.

I already can tell we are going to get on great, Sounds like a racebike. No driver aids, carbed, love fiddling with a choke again. Great for a shortarse. Get to ride it tomorrow. Smile

Thinking of adding a 900RR N to the wee blade to keep him company on cold lonely nights. In the same livery. Just got to find one, that's not been molested, at a sensible price.

I need to get my head sorted mania means additional bikes to me. Not good. Or yes it is good but not sensible. Or maybe it is sensible to be not sensible.

Also going to try and find an early nineties CBR600 to complete the set. Can't get them in the red white and purple/blue livery though

Problem with this fantasy is money. That's not stopped me before though.

I'm going to sell the Ninja and my shares in cannabis (GW Pharmaceuticals) They've dropped really bad and I can't understand why. Never mind cannabis was never a good investment as the governments have got so many restrictions on what us Jo public can access.

Motorcycles is the way to go.

Am I a selfish narcissist for posting about myself and the selfish things I do?

Photo of CBR900RR N just to add sexy to this post.

Share prices for GW Pharmaceuticals will go back up again, after all, the UK is the world's largest producer and exporter of legal cannabis for medical and scientific uses.

You should get a baby blade CBR250RR MC22 as they have a 19,000 rpm red line.
