Hi folks - sorry if this has been asked before, tried google but couldnt find an answer.

Simple question - is an MOT in miles or kilometers?

There's a bike on ebay and I did the HPI check thing which says 12000 + miles but the seller is saying its 7000 miles and the MOT is in KM?

Just wanted to make sure

Couldn't find the info on the Gov website might have missed it

Thanks

Its miles but if the speedo and odometer are in km the examiner may not have realised and put the amount in kms.

Sellers tell lies. Does the mileage affect the bike much?

If this is the case, they could be lying about anything else too - I'd be wary unless I could see it in person before bidding

Thanks for the help

The seller seems legit / has a good ebayer profile and has been helpful with any questions etc

Its got a new MOT Thumbs Up

I would prefer to be able to see it in person definitely but it's a fair distance away so I'm not able to sadly.

It was just a little confusing about the millage when doing the history check - which the rest is all fine.

The millage does work out, If the bike is in KM at roughly 12k that converts to about 7k miles.

Its a mondial hps 125 2017 model - I think they are a italian company so wasnt sure If the bike would be in KM

My old AJS JS-125 had the speedo in MPH but the odometer in km.

The MOT guy would just take the reading off the odomoter.

So yes, he could be legit.

Yep - I was talking with the person selling and I bought it today - had a hectic few days and I completely forgot to check the HPI info, thats when the miles seemed odd - first time doing a history check

My knowledge of Bath is about the same as bikes, sounds like a nice clean place - are you telling me its some hotbed for motorbike chop shops and miscreants and I should be concerned? Razz

I've had a bike with a Km speedo and odometer and the MOT bloke didn't care, he just wrote what the numbers were. That was pre 2000 though. I think you have to have a speedo with mph on the speed reading part for the MOT now, I don't think the odometer matters at all from that point of view.

My import passes with the km/h clocks just fine. Couple of times tester was on autopilot and recorded the odo as miles, the rest of them its gone down on the record as km either is fine. Could be slip of the key by a tester and not picked up on/didnt bother anyone
