Has anybody on here ever derestricted or knows how to derestrict a Yamaha tzr 50? I’ve had the bike since I was 16 (I’m turning 18 in 6 months) and right now can’t afford a new bike and honestly I am quite attached to it so wanted to derestrict it just to get that little bit more power while I save up for a new bike and to get as much use out of it as I can, I’m going to claim the derestriction on my insurance so everything will be legal but can’t for the life of me find out how to do it properly anywhere. It is a 2009 model if that helps. (Yes I know getting a 125 would be better but I’m not allowed so any help would be really appreciated)Thanks in advance |

Dunno much about it these days but back in the day there used to be a restrictor cone/tube just inside the neck of the front pipe (DT/RD50) and the trick was a screwdriver down the neck and twist it about until the restrictor came out, another was a washer or some form of blanking plate which restricted the size of the inlet manifold, this could either just be removed or sometimes they'd need to be cut out with a Stanley knife...
Not sure how this would effect the fueling of the carb though and you may find you'll need to start fiddling around with jetting, filter, needle position etc...
An extra tooth on the front sprocket or a couple off the rear will give you a wee bit more top end should you feel the need too "after all" all that extra power you're gonna gain is gonna need taming somehow... |
