Glad to hear the wheels are a standard finish!

Yeh the riding position is a lot sportier than my 2 recent bikes, didn't feel uncomfy though. Helps the seat is pretty good, the mt09 comfort seat wasn't the best, Deauville on the other hand, perfect!

You're going back in technology on both of those bikes..... Why not just use the MT09?

I had a S4 for about seven years as my first big bike. Restricted to 33hp for the first two. I never found it asthmatic or lacking in power. The brakes were absolutely fantastic and it handled brilliantly. I did have a reg/rec issue that was sorted with an ebay special part for £30.

Like any other sports 600 they fucking suck in heavy traffic and bad weather though. No ABS either.....

I do not like many aspects of modern bikes, it cvertainly isn't about the technology for me, I actually dislike ride by wire throttles, expensive electronics (ABS, TC) etc. They are also aesthetically not really to my taste, I do prefer the aesthetics of late 90's/00's bikes, old Kwaks being my favourite (ZX7R etc).

Motorbikes aren't as big a part of my life as they once were, having a bike of that value rarely getting used just seemed like a waste. When I had my Deauville I always chose to ride that incase the weather was rubbish etc. I prefer bikes I don't have to be precious about, I was far too precious over the MT09, as at that sort of money it isn't throwaway to me. Hence me flogging them both and looking for a cheaper do it all replacement.

Gonna have to disagree there about the electronics. ABS is one thing I'll never do without again

Yeah fair enough mate, it isn't a deal breaker for me though. Aside the times when I have purposely tried to activate ABS to test if it works, I have never found the need for it in my day to day riding.

Gone are the days where the bike was my only mode of transport and I am forced to ride in all weather where I may have to lean on ABS more often.
But I appreciate your point of view.
