Today, or rather yesterday, I removed the carburetor for cleaning, as I had some overflow (stuck float valve, I thought) and performance issues.

Now, after I removed the carburetor and checked it, it was clean as a whisle. However that was only the begining of my headache. First, the carburetor float was cracked and full of petrol = overflowing issues. Second, the fuel tap had no filtration screens whatsoever = bits of whatever was in the tank plugging up the main jet under load. I mean, the fuel tap had no strainer, no main screen, nothing. Confused

I mean, the previous owner did not lie, when he was selling the bike to me. The carburetor was cleaned, fecked float, but cleaned. The same goes for the fuel tap. Mad

The fuel tap (OEM) isn't really that avalible, nor cheap, so I guess I understand what he did, but the carburetor float? It's an ubiquitous generic part used in hundreds of vehicles, avalible from, I don't know, £10, or he could at least just try to glue it instead. Confused

Anyway, no more puddles of fuel under the bike and no more fuel starvation, I guess. Thumbs Up

Today on the Mito I have stripped, cleaned and loctited to buggery the rear brake pushrod thing to stop it loosening itself then cleaned and tweaked the rear bulb holders so they don't flicker and tightened the LED number plate screw light so it pointed down.

I put it all back together to find that the rear light then didn't work at all so stripped the back end off again, pushed a connector back together, covered said connector in insulation tape and put it all back together again.

Gotta love 15 year old 2 strokes (and I do although for some reason I always seem to ride like a tw@t when I'm on it Mr. Green)

Finished off installing my new left hand switch, which was a pain because the chinese can never be bothered to put a wiring diagram in the box.
Then I figured it would be a good time for me to put my new tail fairing on so it looks good for the MOT next week which ended up taking ages just to take the old one off. gave part of the rear subframe a paint because it's pretty naffed, but i'm tempted to take the whole thing off tomorrow and paint the rest as it's pretty bad and has a bit of rust hidden underneath the paint.

Today I did put the repaired fairing back on ‘Project Scrappy Hyosung’
My repairs maybe scruffy, but it all went back together as it should with the minimum of fuss Very Happy .
Happy Pepperami is happy!
I learnt a bit today about how the fairing fixes on the bike/how to put it on the right way/which bits go on or come off first.
This is a great help as it might possibly aid me if I have to remove the fairing from my Hyosung GT250r.

Baby Bandit.

Picked up a load of cheap Chinese LED bulbs this week so have experimented with on in the bandit.

Beam pattern seems to be ok, certainly much brighter than the Osram I took out.

99p for 2 bulbs seem to be too good to be true!

I then cleaned, adjusted and lubed the chain without getting any on the rear tyre.
Put some air in the tyres and topped up the oil.

I can't get over how pretty this little bike is.

Could you share a link to the ad please? A lot of the Ebay ones have 1-star reviews.

Too late I'm afraid, they were priced incorrectly at 99p and 1 per customer. I got pretty much everyone I know to buy them. Seller realised after about 8 sales and put them up to £8.99.

The bike shop phoned to tell me that the Snarley is almost MOT-able (brakes, horn) and that they could have it ready for me on Monday.

Suddenly my week off is starting to feel a bit brighter.

Today I helped put some baffles in some tulip-style exhausts on a Bonnie. Before: ear bleed (effectively straight-thru) now just ASBO level Smile

Talking of horns that'll be my next job. I think the ones going on will err on the side of "obnoxious" given they need a relay to operate Shocked The Lord taketh [decibels] with one hand and giveth with the other Very Happy

Finally got round to replacing the ignition on the Viffer after the scrotes failed dismally at taking her. Involved a lot more dismantling than I wanted, but I sorted a few cable routings while I was in there. I also de-rusted and painted the screen/cluster frame, then re-programmed the Biketronic gear indicator it came with.

Also chucked on a new RK GXW chain, sorted the exhaust blow and discovered a bent fairing bracket where they had her over on the RHS, which I made straight enough for now, but getting replaced when I stumble upon one.

New silencer on the Rebel. This is the old one:

https://i.imgur.com/iF39Bta.jpg?2

So let that be a lesson to you kids Smile $10 sucky sucky (or in this case £15 blowy blowy) is as bad as it sounds. TBF I didn't expect to keep it on - more an experiment in making link pipes - but to not even last a season Rolling Eyes

I'm still using the 1st effort link pipe and bracket which look bleedin' awful so I'll hold off on a photo of the new setup till it's properly finished.

Rear tyre for the project bike FINALLY arrived, so both wheels are now complete.

It turns out that 3.25-17 tyres are hard to find. A lot of sellers advertise them for sale online, but they don't actually stock them. What they do is ring around when place an order, and they don't tell you what's going on as the days turn into weeks. I was refunded twice by 2 different sellers, while trying to buy this tyre. The seller I eventually went with was the same, but managed to send me this tyre from somewhere in Europe. The tread pattern is the same on front and rear, but the brand name is different. I am sure both tyres come from the same factory in Taiwan.

Now the wheels are done, I'll be able to wheel the bike around and finish the remaining tasks. I've already done as much as is reasonable while the bike is stationary, and most of the other parts I needed have come through.

Fixed the under tray that the mudguard bolts onto. Some previous owner had fixed it with silicone adhesive, but the CDI bolts so close to it that it was also stuck to it.

Looks like ABS so I used the same method I use for fairings which is to melt some ABS in a pot of acetone and then just paint it on like a glue. It's worked well enough that I cant break it off without using a lot of force.
