I fondly remember playing this game as a kid, but my copy of it died along with the 386 (I think!) I used to play it on. I think I tried one of the free "adapted" versions (as the original was DOS based) about 10 years ago on Windows XP with mixed results (it did work, sort of, but was a bit unstable). These days I'm running Windows 10; does anyone know if the "free" downloads out there are safe, or are they virus-ridden trojan monsters looking to infect their next victim? Is it something antivirus can adequately scan and determine to be safe? I'd quite like a trip down memory lane. Smile

Cheers

Given the age and lack of any performance requirements you'd probably be best off running it in a VM anyway.

Don't forget to pick up Forge of Virtue, Serpent Isle and The Silver Seed Smile

Or even DosBox if you want to go back far enough.

Downloaded from GOG and enjoying the nostalgia. Funny - not played the game (properly) for over 20 years yet I can still remember stuff. The resolution . . . wow, it's weird - it seems appalling (unsurprisingly) on first glance, but after a few minutes you become absorbed into the gameplay itself and the resolution becomes unimportant. Something to be said for these games where without graphics to shock and awe, the creators had to come up with inventive plots to grab the user's attention.

The Return of the Obra Dinn being a recent example. (BTW took me three attempts to finish!)
